1956 Corvette Production and Performance

Model Year Highlights
The 1956 model year marked a number of "firsts" for the Corvette, including:
  • 1956 was the first redesign of the Corvette.
  • 1956 was the first year that a factory hardtop was offered as an option for Corvette.
  • Dual four-barrel carburetors
  • Roll-up windows and external door handles
  • Sculpted side coves (which allowed for two-tone paint jobs)
