2005 Corvette: Service Bulletin: Actual Outside Temperature Does Not Match Temperature Reading On Inter Display - Normal Operating Characteristic

Service Bulletin #: 05-08-49-005

Date: 2/10/05

Subject:  Actual Outside Temperature Does Not Match Temperature Reading On Inter Display - Normal Operating Characteristic

Model(s): 2005 Chevrolet Corvette

Some customers may comment that the temperature reading displayed on the inside of the vehicle is significantly different than the actual outside temperature. THIS IS THE NORMAL OPERATING CHARACTERISTIC OF THE SYSTEM. NO CORRECTION IS REQUIRED.

When a vehicle is parked, there is a buffer that retains the last temperature recorded. The next time the vehicle is started, the interior display will show the last recorded temperature, which can be significantly higher or lower than the actual temperature. This will be displayed for a couple of minutes while the vehicle is allowed to draw fresh ambient air over the temperature sensor to update the reading.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
