Popular Mechanics Awards 2020 Corvette With Car of the Year Award

Ever since the wraps came off the 2020 Corvette over a year ago, the mid-engine Corvette has been racking up the awards.   And now another one

The 2020 Corvette has now won Popular Mechanics’ Car of the Year Award as part of the magazine’s Automotive Excellence Awards.

In determining the winners, Popular Mechanics also referred to Car & Driver,  J.D. Power, Edmunds, and Consumer Reports for additional reference criteria in their decision.

Popular Mechanics related the new mid-engine Corvette to the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini with exotic looks, stunning performance, thrilling driving experience and all for less than half the price of those exotics.

By the end of our week-long test drive, the view from the driveway and the driver’s seat never lost its novelty. It is thrilling to hold the keys to this thing.

They also found it to be comfortable and livable with plenty of cargo space to be a weekly grocery runner.

What About the Interior?

Unlike Bloomberg’s recent trashing of the Corvettes interior calling it one of the worst for 2020, Popular Mechanics actually found the interior to be well designed, comfortable and intuitive.

The center row of buttons separating the driver and passenger sides which Bloomberg absolutely hated, was found to make sense after just a few miles of driving by Popular Mechanics.

Given that just about all of the reviews we’ve seen here at the Corvette Action Center for the 2020 Corvette, we have to wonder what kind of Koolaid the Bloomberg Media Company was drinking.  Then again, they specialize in financial news.  Maybe they should just stick to what they know best.

As for now, congratulations to the Corvette Team for a job well done!

How can I scoop up one of these before all cars go electric?

While it’s damn near impossible to get your hands on a 2020 Corvette that isn’t already spoken for, or marked up at least $10,000 over MSRP, you may be in luck with MacMulkin Chevrolet of Nashua, New Hampshire.

“Nashua what!?” you say?  Yes, many people have never heard of Nashua, New Hampshire, and it’s not like it’s a major (even a minor) tourist attraction.  BUT, would you believe the largest Corvette dealer in the world resides there?

MacMulkin Chevrolet has been the #2 Corvette dealer in the world for the last several years, but this year, they moved up to the #1 position.  How you ask?  By not charging OVER MSRP for the 2020 Corvette and providing one hell of an incredible delivery experience to all new Corvette customers.

Unlike a lot of dealers out there who just hand you the keys after you sign the papers and say, “k…thanks….bye….”, MacMulkin’s Corvette Team formerly introduces each owner to their new pride and joy and spends as much time as necessary teaching their customers how to completely operate their new Corvette and get the greatest amount of driving pleasure out of it.

Even if you live on the opposite coast, and do a Courtesy Delivery to a local Chevy dealer near you, MacMulkin’s Corvette Team will call you after you take delivery of your Corvette and do a video conference with you if required, to properly teach you how to operate your Corvette.

From their website:

Our Corvette Team strives to work closely with each and every customer in order to help them select the very best Corvette for them.

If you order a new Corvette from us, we comfortably guide you through the entire process. Once your order is placed and accepted by GM, you can then track the progress of your order on our Corvette Order Tracking page.

If you purchase one of our in-stock Corvettes, we make the entire sales procedure from the paperwork process to the delivery process, as quick and easy as possible.

When you purchase your Corvette from us, you’re not just becoming another Corvette owner; you’re becoming a member of our Corvette family!
