1966 Corvette Production and Performance

Model Year Highlights
Exterior:
  • Roof vents were removed from the coupe.
  • New available colors: Laguna Blue, Milano Maroon, Mosport Green, Nassau Blue, Rally Red, Silver Pearl, Sunfire Yellow, Trophy Blue.
Interior:
  • Door pulls consisted of bright metal.
  • Headrests were an available option.
  • Headliners consisted of vinyl-covered foam instead of fiberboard.
Mechanical:
  • The M22 Muncie "Rock Crusher" transmission became a regular production option.
  • 1966 was the first year for the 427 ci engine. This engine initially listed at 450 hp, but the rating (not the output) was reduced to 425 hp for unknown reasons, shortly after production began.
  • Holley carburetors became standard equipment on all 1966 Corvette engines.
  • Rear backup lights became standard equipment.
