Bill Turner couldn’t believe his good fortune when he got his first Corvette back in 1962.

Growing up in Victor, he worked at a Sunoco station on Route 96 and built a name on the local hot-rod circuit. While he was in the Army, he learned how to work on fuel-injection vehicles.

Turner hit nirvana when he purchased that black ’57 Corvette in 1962, said his son, Tom.

“The day he picked it up, he just drove it around for two days,” Tom Turner said. “He only stopped for gas or whatever. He was just so excited. He couldn’t believe that he had a Corvette. As he said, the fiberglass got in his blood.”
