No. 4 Corvette C7.R Catches Fire During Test Session at the Roar Before the 24

The No. 4 Corvette C7.R being driven by Marcel Fassler caught fire on Sunday during the Roar Before the 24 test session.

The Swiss driver escaped injury as flames began to engulf the engine compartment of the race car as he was entering NASCAR Turn 2.

A lengthy red flag came out as the fire was extinguished and the C7.R was removed from the track. Cause of the fire was determined to be fuel-related.

Fassler, along with 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Champions Oliver Gavin and Tommy Milner, has shared driving duties while defending the Rolex 24 class-winning Corvette in the past.
