The First 2023 Corvette Z06 Sells for $3,600,000 at Barrett Jackson Auction

Just a short time ago in Scottsdale, AZ, a 2023 Corvette Z06 prototype took to the stage at the Barrett Jackson auction to raise funds for Operation Homefront.

The prototype dressed in Accelerate Yellow Metallic represented VIN 001; which will be the first production based C8 Corvette Z06 to roll off the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Line, as well as the very first 70th Anniversary Corvette to be built.

Bidding for the high performance C8 Corvette immediately took off and skyrocketed to an astonishing $3,600,000 before the hammer fell.

The winner not only gets the first production based C8 Corvette Z06 and 70th Anniversary Corvette, but also gets free tickets and VIP seating at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in France this year as well as a free entry into the exclusive Ron Fellows Corvette performance driving school at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch.

But the best part of the winning bid, is that the $3,600,000 raised will go to help veterans served by Operation Homefront.

Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront, is a national nonprofit focused on building strong, stable and secure military families who can thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities they’ve worked hard to protect.

From their website:

For over fifteen years, we have provided programs that offer: RELIEF (through Critical Financial Assistance and transitional housing programs), RESILIENCY (through permanent housing and caregiver support services) and RECURRING FAMILY SUPPORT programs and services throughout the year that help military families overcome the short-term bumps in the road so they don’t become long-term chronic problems. Operation Homefront has consistently earned high ratings from leading charity rating services, including Charity Navigator, which gave Operation Homefront 4 Stars for 11 consecutive years for superior service and accountability. At Operation Homefront, 90 percent of expenditures goes directly toward delivering programs and services to the military families who need it most.

Since 2017, Chevrolet has been a proud supporter of Operation Homefront. Chevrolet has provided seven Silverado full-size trucks to the organization’s six regional offices and headquarters, and donated funding for services.

First 2023 Corvette Z06 Raises $3.6 Million for Operation Homefront

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Operation Homefront will receive $3.6 million from today’s sale of the first retail 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction. This is a record sale for a charity vehicle donated by a manufacturer at Barrett-Jackson, surpassing the previous record, held by the first retail 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, by $600,000.

The 2023 Corvette Z06, offering the highest horsepower naturally-aspirated V-8 to hit the market in any production car, was driven onto the block at the annual auction by retired Corvette Racing legend Oliver Gavin. Representatives from Operation Homefront, a national nonprofit focused on building strong, stable and secure military families, were at the auction to experience this exciting moment firsthand. 100 percent of the winning bid from Rick Hendrick, founder and CEO of Hendrick Companies, benefits Operation Homefront.

“We are deeply grateful to our friends at Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson for choosing Operation Homefront as the beneficiary of this incredible auction,” said Brig. Gen. (ret.) John I. Pray Jr., president and CEO of Operation Homefront. “The proceeds from the sale of this sensational Corvette Z06 will go a long way to helping us help our military families overcome their financial hardships and have the opportunity to thrive in the communities – our communities – they’ve worked so hard to protect.”
