Earlier this morning, we started to hear rumors that the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly Plant was going to be shut down the next two weeks starting Monday, June 29th.
We reached out to Alex Nunez at Automotive Communications for Chevrolet and received the following response:
Confirming that yes, GM Bowling Green Assembly is shut down for the next two weeks
We asked if this was a regularly planned shutdown or a halt in production due to supplier chain disruptions. So far, we haven’t heard back.
In April, the Corvette Assembly Plant announced that it would be shut down for three weeks due to supplier-related parts constraints. Those shut-downs took place on
• April 27 – May 1
• May 4 – May 8
• June 1 – June 5
2027 Corvette Grand Sport
As dealers are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the 2027 Corvette with it’s new 6.6L V8 engine for the Stingray and the much anticipated Grand Sport model, this two week shutdown will surely put a damper on that.
While the Corvette Assembly Plant has been chugging along with 2027 production for the last couple of weeks, almost all of the Corvettes built thus far, are sitting on hold at the factory.
For those dealers with 2026 Corvette still sitting on their lots, now might be a good time to try to move them!
