1990 Bertone Nivola Corvette Concept

The 1990 Bertone Nivola Corvette Concept car was based off of a 1990 Corvette ZR-1 by the Italian design house Bertone and designed by Marc Deschamps. It debuted in 1990 at the Geneva Motor Show, and showcased how exotic the C4 Corvette could be with an LT5 engine mounted in the back of the car.

"We got a random call from Italy during Jan 90 that basically said 'we're building a special with an LT5 engine, can you help?' I probably said something less polite than 'don't be silly!!' A few weeks later, I went off to Bertone outside Turin to wire it up and make it work. CPC had given them a motor and other parts. I worked 84 hours from 8am Mon to noon Sat, and it drove out of the workshop to meet Nuccio Bertone."

"This was the beginning of 'what do I need and which wires can I take out!' The Bertone styling studio (Stile) didn't employ any electrical engineers. They came from the Bertone Carrozzeria (the company that built low volume production cars) Of course they didn't want to release their electrical man to the Stile for a week! I knew what the engine harness needed to make it work but not where to find it at the other end of the car. Eventually, the production guys relented and we got their electrical man to help - it was a game they played every year as they built the Geneva car I think!! All that was left was to work with their man (in Italian of course) to connect it all up!"
