As Mary Lou Retton wins the Olympic Gold, the fourth generation Corvette is born (officially released in April of 1983). Both the Corvette and Mary Lou receive accolades from the media. In honor of the very first Corvette ever built, a coupe sporting white with red interior rolls off the assembly line on October 26, 1983 and becomes the 750,000th Corvette built.
