Corvettes of Southeast Missouri lead Truman Horn to his final resting place

91 year old Korean war veteran Truman Horn loved his country and the Corvette

Jackson, MO – Truman Horn led a full life serving his country in the Korean war and building Corvettes at one of the Corvette assembly plants.

His family and Corvettes were an important part of his life and he would occasionally bring a Corvette home and take his wife and daughters for a cruise.

When Horn passed away on January 23 at the age of 91, members of the Corvettes of Southeast Missouri club got together at the funeral home in Jackson and ushered him on one last ride to the the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.

Corvettes of Southeast Missouri lead Truman Horn to his final resting place“This was the best send-off anybody could give him, and he would have thoroughly enjoyed it,” said Carol Ruesler, Horn’s niece.

“I would almost bet he’s looking down and smiling as seeing that I know he loved Corvettes. And I think that anybody that does would be really, really proud of that fact that they had this many people show up in Corvettes to drive in his funeral procession,” said Rick Essner, the President of the Corvettes of Southeast Missouri club.

This is one of the beautiful aspects of the Corvette hobby and lifestyle:  America’s only true sportscar bringing people together in honor and respect for others.  It’s been said before here at the Corvette Action Center:  “it’s not so much about the car as it is about the people.”  Truer words have never been spoken.

Rest in peace Mr. Horn and thank you for your service to our country and the Corvette!
