2020 C8 Corvette Mobile Tour at MacMulkin Chevrolet

Yesterday, the 2020 Corvette Mobile Tour came through New Hampshire and made a stop at MacMulkin Chevrolet of Nashua, NH.

It was my first chance to see the 2020 C8 Corvette in person, and I cannot express how impressed I am with this all new Corvette. GM really pulled out all the stops with this one and everyone that came through the dealership to experience it, were blown away.

The old saying “pictures don’t do it justice” has become a little long in the tooth over the years when it comes to a new car reveal, but it definitely holds true for this mid-engine Corvette. In my opinion, the numerous complaints I’ve read online about the tail lights looking like a Camaro and the rear-end of the car looking too busy – couldn’t be further from the truth.

When I first saw pictures of the car after the reveal last month, I loved it, but I had a hard time warming up to the design of the rear-end. After seeing it in person, I love the whole car. The overall design is exotic and astounding.

It does not look like the new Acura NSX, or a Ferrari, or a McLaren, or any other car you can think of. While it has a couple design cues of all three, it is undoubtedly, CORVETTE! It’s sleek, sexy, and aggressive while looking like it’s moving at 180 MPH+ standing still.

The first impression I got looking at the front of the car, was that there was also a slight resemblance to the B2 Stealth Bomber. Look at the rear wing design of the B2, and then look at the bottom of the “frunk” lid just above the Corvette emblem:

Interior design and quality is absolutely fantastic. Some people, including the automotive media have incessantly complained that the interior of a C7 Corvette looks cheap. While the only complaint I had about the C7 interior was the quality…or texture/appearance of the carpeting used in the car, I felt that the C7 interior quality was excellent. The inside of the C8…stunningly plush!

Gone are the days of using cheap variations in plastics throughout a Corvette’s interior. High quality components are generously integrated throughout the C8’s interior giving an overall feeling of luxury, purpose and sportiness. Hopefully, this new generation of Corvette will finally put to rest all of the negativity that the automotive media showered upon past generations of the car.

While mingling with the crowd of spectators all day long, overall feedback was extremely positive. Just about everyone loved it and agreed, “pictures don’t do it justice”. The general age range of spectators was all over the map. From young to old, everyone seemed to welcome the new design of this Corvette and I couldn’t help but think, while watching everyone pour in and out of the car, if GM truly wanted to target the younger generations with this car, they’ve pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Given the price point of this Corvette, and what you’re getting for your money – GM has just launched a B2 Stealth Bomber across the bows of the competition. Well done GM…very well done!

I would also be remiss in not mentioning the Corvette Engineering and Design team. Kudos to everyone involved in bringing this ground breaking Corvette to market. I think it’s safe to say, the Corvette is more of a serious threat to the competition than it ever has been before. I can’t wait to start reading the reviews when they come in!
