With just over 17k miles on the odometer, this beautiful 1968 L88 Corvette with an impressive pedigree could be yours
There’s just something about an L88 Corvette that makes the hearts of Corvette enthusiasts skip a beat, and this one is no exception.
Only 216 L88 Corvettes were built between 1967 and 1969, 80 of which were built for the 1968 model year.
Originally purchased new from Jack Douglass Chevrolet in Hinsdale, Illinois, this 1968 L88 Corvette – serial #194378S414566 is finished in Le Mans Blue (976) over Medium Blue (414) vinyl interior. The odometer shows just 17,524 miles tacked on by only three previous owners.
Additional options include the Muncie M22 “Rock Crusher” 4-speed manual transmission, J56 heavy duty brake package, full transistorized ignition and the N11 off-road exhaust system.
The car underwent a no-expenses spared restoration by the original owner sometime before 2018 and over the years, has gathered quite a collection of awards including:
- 2016 MCACN Concours Gold Certified – November 20
- 2016 Bloomington Gold Certified – June 24
- 2011 NCRS Top Flight Award – Novi, Michigan (97.2 score)
- 2011 NCRS Top Flight Award – 4th Garden State Regional (97.6 score)
- 2010 Performance Verification Award – Charlotte, North Carolina
- 2009 NCRS Top Flight Award – Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida (98.4 score)
The last time the car was for sale was at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in 2018 where the hammer fell at a final bid of $495,000. The winning bidder was a dealer in Missouri where the car has resided in the dealership owner’s personal collection until now.
It’s currently up for auction by that dealer on the Bring a Trailer website where shortly after hitting the site last night, it received its first bid of $100,000.
Right now, the current bid stands at $150,000 with 8 days left in the auction. It’s going to be interesting to see where the gavel falls this time around!
