Default New Spark Plug Wires for an '89 Coupe

I have a new set of spark plug wires to install, but need some advice. I can see that installing them in the original OEM clips may be extremely difficult at best without major disassembly. Can anyone offer any tips to make this job a little easier I can route the wires over the back edge of the valve covers, but I really don't want to do that unless it is absolutely necessary.

Thanks,
Dino

I installed new wires on my 90 this summer . really wasn't all that bad, just a couple of scrapes and cuts. take them out as an assembly , one side at a time. Lay them out and match the wire lenght , replace one wire at a time . Draw a picture of the way the wires are on the cap, makes it easier than tracing later . about an hr on the drivers side and hr and a half on the pas. side. I did buy new clips for down near the heads they get brittle. If you haven't ever installed plugs , a section of the passanger side fenderwell can be removed to make it much easier to get at. The section around the back. About 10 screws there are two or three in from the bottom .Removing it makes life much easier . Have fun .

I ment to say replace them one at a time in each assembly . Then reinstall the assembly . Little tricky getting the assembly routed but you will be much happier with the looks of it if you replace them the way they came off. I used cardboard to lay them on and marked the clip spacing etc so they were in the same location on the new wirers.

Scav,
Thanks for advice. I thought about doing what you had suggested, but I was concerned about screwing up the wiring. I think I will go this way. I want it to look as original as possible. Trying to get the clip back in on the backside of the motor has got to be nearly impossible. I think I will do the plugs at the same time.

Thanks again,

Dino

the clips are slide on , not real bad to get back on . I was going to put on new clips at the back of the heads but dealer didn't have them and they are over $8 apiece.
