    Default Custom chips

I need a custom chip for my 1990 automatic coupe. I have a 52mm throttle body, ported plenum, large tube runners, and a big mouth manifold. I also have the tpis headers, no cats, and a borla stinger catback. 180 degree thermostat. Stock head and cam. What would be the best company to get a custom burned chip from from. thanks derek.

Ed Wright at Fastchip.com would be one.

But I wouldnt do the chip thing unless youre totally done, If you change the cam later youll have to have it reprogrammed and that costs just as much or nearly so.

Vader has a good point. I contacted that fastchip company through email, and asked them why there chip would outperform any other. I dont have a ton of mods, but I just thought the answer would be interesting. I didn't hear back from them, I guess it is time for another email.

look up -=Jeff=- as he custom burns chips and works with you to make sure the chip is burned right. alot of these so called custom chip companies will only do 1 burn and if it's not right you have to spend more money to reburn it. Jeff will burn it 2 additional times for free.

I have a Ed wright "custom race" chip for sale, it's for our type of car's, the one's with MAP (90 and 91) models, and the code 32 (EGR) is turned off, the fan's are programed to come on a 165 degree's, let me know if you interested, email me @

it'll save you a heck of a lot of money, I bought mine for $300.00, it is not the "fast chip", it's the higher up one, "custom race chip" I believe it's called that I bought from him, of course thats not even close to what I plan on selling it for, let me know.

I must also put in my .02 cents. Jeff did my chip and right from the start, the car did exactly what Jeff said. I was looking for mor low end oomph. Thats what I got. Added benefit as well, my fans turn on sooner. Even after several tanks of Chevron Supreme, I am averaging 16mpg (but who's really counting).

Thanks again Jeff, a job well done!

Just to add my $00.02, I did call fastchips and was very impressed. It is my understand that they set-up your chip specifically for all engine modifications. A truly custom chip.

I also did touch base with Jeff, but he has never done an 85. Jeff thanks for your honesty and I hope your job is going good.

My engine project is complete (several mods) and I will need to get a chip. Any more feedback on fastchips?

Jeff the moderator does some chips, but he never did an 85. As a second choice I was looking into Fastchip.

I am confused is there a standard Fastchip and a custom Fastchip. I went to their website and see a special order form where you spell out all your mods.

The reason I am looking to Fastchip was this custom chip. I have already bought the Hyptech chip and it did not work for me.

It depends how many Mods you have. If you have ported, Big Mouth Intakes or done stuff to your cam/ heads...you will need the custom program. I had the only added an air rammer, slight cam mod, 160deg stat, and upgraded my wires/plugs so I was able to use their regular chip for the 160deg stat. They take your info off your old chip, plug in the few mods and away they go.

I should have re read your post. You would need a custom. I am suprised they didnt because they did do mine, but I needed some thing quick to run my car while I do some more to it..
