1998 Corvette Convertible: Service Bulletin: Tonneau Cover Makes Noise When Going Over Bumps


Subject: TONNEAU COVER MAKES NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS (INSTALL TAPE)

Condition:

SOME CUSTOMERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE TONNEAU COVER MAKES NOISE WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS, WITH TOP IN THE UP POSITION.

Cause:

THIS SITUATION MAY BE CAUSED BY THE RUBBER STOP BUMPERS HAVING A STICK/SLIP CONDITION TO THE TONNEAU COVER.

Correction:

1. CLEAN TONNEAU COVER IN THE AREA SHOWN (FIGURE 1) WITH A GENERAL PURPOSE CLEANER.

2. INSTALL A PIECE OF 3M(R) SCOTCH SQUEAK REDUCTION TAPE (P/N 06356), OR EQUIVALENT, TO THE TONNEAU COVER.
