1968 Corvette Headlamp Aiming Procedure

Do not aim the headlamps on a 1968 Corvette until you are sure that they are in their operating position.  The only way to be certain that they are in operation position, is to have the system under at least 20 inches vacuum.  To determine the amount of vacuum in the system, place a vacuum gauge (set-up as shown in figure 5) between the vacuum tank and the supply hose.  Once the vacuum gauge has been installed in the system as shown in figure 5, run the engine for approximately two (2) minutes.  Turn off the engine and read the gauge.  It should read at least 20 inches Hg.  If it does not, check for a leak in the system or a plugged or kinked hose between the manifold and the vacuum tank.

Once 20 inches of vacuum is obtained, aim the headlamps in the normal manner.
