08-21-2009:  Via Email:  "I bought my '53 in 1960. I wanted to go SCCA racing so I put a roll bar and a Corvette 3-speed in the car. My first race was at Stead Air Force Base in Reno, NV. There were 30 cars in the race. The '53 was in class B production. Also in BP was a '59 Corvette with a 4-speed, positraction, and FI. It was a very hot day, and after being lapped by the '59 I was going past the pits and I saw him in the pits with his hood up and steam coming from his engine. The '53 was running cool! I unlapped myself and went on to win 1st in class! I still have the trophy. Shortly after the race I purchased the Bob Bondurant '57 air box car which I raced thru 1966. I restored that car in 1986 and raced it in 1987 at the Monterey Historics. (Corvette was the honored marque).I am still racing the car in vintage races in Northern Calif."
