    Default Video: 2014 Ferrari F12 Berlinetta vs 2014 Chevrolet Corvette C7 vs 2013 Porsche 911 C4S! Head 2 Head Ep 42

    • On this episode of Head 2 Head, Carlos Lago and Randy Pobst restage our annual Best Driver's Car competition with this year's winning Porsche 911 Carrera 4S plus two contenders that missed the initial dance, the all-new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and the explosive, exotic Ferrari F12 Berlinetta. The Ferrari is the most powerful car we've ever taken around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca with its ferocious 6.3-liter 731 horsepower V-12. The Corvette comes packing the latest version of GM's venerable small block, a 6.2-liter cam-in-block V-8 that kicks out 460 hp and 465 pound-feet of torque. The Porsche and its relatively tiny 3.8-liter flat-6 might seem out gunned, but remember that for the last two years the 911 has beaten back every BDC challenger we've thrown at it. Does the Corvette have what it takes to dethrone the 911? Does the wailing Ferrari? Watch and find out!

Good video - 18 minutes but worth the watch.

They mention that the Ferrari is 4 times the price of the Vette but it's more like 6 times the Vette and 3 times the price of the 911C4S.

I think the Ferrari weighs over 4000 lbs........that's chubby.....it takes 731 hp to move it around....but oh it do sound gooood! I thought the Stingray sounded pretty good also......

I would take the Great American made Vette! I live and breath Chevy power. For the foreign cars I would pick the Ferrari. I would never pay that ridiculous price for it but for just looks and power I would pick it 2nd. The Porsche I'm very disappointed in. To me Porsche really needs to hit the drawing board and come up with a new look. I was actually feeling that way with the Vette until the Stingray came back to life. Before buying my Convertible Stingray I was in love at 1st site but I was still up in the air on Wethers I was going to buy one. Then I went and saw all the great upgrades they did to the interior which was a major bummer for me in years past. I thought it was a shame to pay all that money for a sports car that had less than desirable interior and ones and then the fact you had to use a ratchet to loosen up 4 spots just to remove a targa top killed it for me. When I was younger I didn't mind. Older and getting arthritis in the hands it was deal breaker. I think the coupes still look a little like the older models but I'm so glad they have changed them up. That's my biggest problem with Porsche and Dodge Viper I think they have had such similar looks for the last many many years that I couldn't tell which ones are newer models over alot of the older ones. I love sports cars alot and always will. I enjoyed this video.

I totally agree with you Marcus, the sound of the Ferrari was awesome. But I think I'll stick with my Corvette.

I found the video more engaging than I expected. In many cases... and gratefully not this one... automotive journals focus on petty details and try to impress the viewer with their extensive knowledge of all things automotive. While there was a touch of that kind of chat, it was kept to a minimum and they actually drove the cars and talked about their experiences while driving the cars.

It really shouldn't come as a surprise that the 911 is the quintessential driver's car since Porsche has been perfecting their formula for +50 year without remarkably changing their overall layout. While the Corvette has been in the game for 10 years longer than the 911, there's been a far more remarkable evolution. If you parked a 1963 Porsche 911 next to a 2016 model, there's no mistaking the lineage... whereas if you park a 1953 or even a 1963 Corvette next to the 2016 model, it's a night vs day difference.

I wonder how they chose the F12 to run against the 911 and the Stingray?

That being said, it's awesome to see that automotive journalists recognize the remarkable improvements and finally treat the Corvette like a real contender instead of simply sneering about perceived deficiencies.

If I had no money concerns, I might pick the Porsche too...

Common sense is like deodorant. The folks who need it most never seem to use it and there's no polite way to tell them.
