Does that procedure require the heavy washer style magnet with the hole sized to fit over the valve stem? I don't have one but I will buy one if you think it will work. I could not get the DIC to...

    A TPMS Headache!!!

I was checking my tire pressures out on the road with the tires all warmed up. I got good readings (34-36) on three wheels but the left rear pressure was blank. I figured the battery in the TPMS...

If you can compress them by hand (even a little bit) they are done! My 2000 C5 had Stabilus lift struts, yours probably does too. I believe that is a German company. Any auto parts store should be...

    Time for the trunk now!

Changing the trunk struts is a 10 minute job, very easy. With the new struts I don't have to struggle to get my fingers under the lid to open it. There is a 1 inch gap now.

    Time for the trunk now!

I just ordered up the trunk struts. They are Strongarm part#4066. 7 dollars each on Rock Auto plus 5 bucks for post office shipping. Advance auto wanted 17$ each.

    Is it open enough???

Yes it is! It seems to be in exactly the same position as the original Stabilus brand OEM"S were. The drape that covers the Tonneau deck touches somewhat but it just passes by with no issues. ...

Easy job, not as bad as I thought !

I got the Tonneau cover struts swapped out in about 1/2 an hour. I didn't get in the trunk at all. I found it a lot easier to move the seats all the way forward, put the seat back down and crawl in...

A little late for your tips !!!

I already bought the struts from Rock Auto. They are Strongarm part number 4065. The Rock catalog says they can be used on either the trunk lid or the waterfall cover. Strongarm tech says the 4065's...

    It's gas strut time!

After 18 years my 2000 C5 needs new struts to hold the waterfall cover open when putting the top up and down. They don't look like much fun to change out. The trunk lid struts are out in the open but...

Question: Clarifying my statement on the welding!

I agree the welds on the muffler were done by hand. The exhaust pipe flanges were the boring robotic type!

    Question: Now the results!!

I only used the cheap 10mm bolts to mock up the assembly, I used the original bolts for final assembly with SS flat washers and lock washers.

    Question: It's install time

To get your old system off your Corvette is not easy at home. As you can see in #335, you have to get way up off the garage floor to twist the old system out. My big jack stands have an inch of air...

Question: It arrived 3 days early, in bad shape!

Question: I guess we will find out!!

Question: At 1/3 the cost are they any good????

  23. Notice: My second Corvette

I owned a 94 C4 for three years and really enjoyed it. Then I saw what I thought was a deal on a 2004 Mercedes Benz SL500. After wrenching on it for two winters and spending $3500.00 to fix it up, I...
