Yes, chambers are way too big. I do believe also the 882's can be prone to cracking, but not as bad as the 624 series that came a year later. It's 624 I believe, and they were very crack prone.

I always thought a 427 was roughly the same engine whether it came from a Vette, or from a Chevelle.

I called Eckler's, they and the EDL 5073 heads you described for a little over 1000 dollars. They also had Promax heads for about $800. My compression would be about 9.3 for the more expensive...

Hey Tom, thanks for the info. I may look into the EDL 5073 heads from Summit. My guess is they will breath best, and give me better performance than vortecs anway. BTW, can you suggest a nice cam...

This could be due to ethanol. I had my float changed to one that was compatible, but I still primarily run strait gas though.

LLCS, I'll move it a little tonight. It will be cool in the morning, and the engine will be bone cold. The carb is working very well, and all the linkage as far as I can tell is working. Also when...

Ok, I have the three screw adjustment. I think if I turn it clockwise, the choke will be less, meaning the butterfly will be more open than if I turn it clockwise and the chock will close more. Is...

Yes the butterfly opens, and closes when choke is engaged. I backed the screw another half turn beneath the choke linkage, and it went off high idle with ease this morning, but it was not as cold...

Sorry I'm late to answer this post, it went to my spam for some reason. So If they recommend 35 psi in 81, was it because of radial tires? Why would it be so drastically different otherwise?

I've been driving in cooler than normal weather, but It seems like I am having trouble with the carb staying in high idle mode. It is idling high as I approach operating temp, then it finally lets...

So far what I have learned from this thread is to just leave it the way it is. It wouldn't be real stylish to have a hose hanging near the ground, and probably wouldn't work with headers. I have...

    PCV valve

Is it necessary to have the PCV valve routed into the carb? I can help but to wonder why all those crankcase fumes needs to go into the carburetor. Can it be plugged at the carb, and a breather...

    Tire pressure

I have noticed for a while the owners manual (77 Vette) calls for 20 lbs of pressure in the front, and 25 lbs in the back. This just doesn't seem right. It seems under inflated. Input would be...

With some good body filler and paint to match, you could fix it yourself. From the looks of the pic it doesn't look that bad, unless I missed something.

I put Cooper Cobra 255's all around on my 77, and they fit with no rubbing. 77 has the same wheel well as 78 on up which offered 255 60's as a factory option. I was still skeptical about clearance,...
