If you are old enough to have been around in the '60s you will remember when every noted custom shop was doing something wild to the new 1963 Corvette coupe. This Split Window was customized from a brand new car with only 100 miles on it by Ray Farhner of Kansas City. I remember it from Rod & Custom magazine. I still have that issue with several customized 1963 Corvettes featured. Selling price was $68,200.

Oh my! A 1969 L89 (427/435 with aluminum heads) in Riverside Gold. Selling price was $205,700. Here's the Barrett-Jackson description.

Lot #1069 - This car was always cared for and cherished by the four owners. The original owner went into the showroom floor at Van Camp Chevrolet in Milford, MI, in the summer of 1969. Options include 427/435hp, tri-power L89 aluminum head, one of 390 built, white soft-top, F-41 suspension, 3.70 posi-traction, power brakes, full transistor ignition, M 21 close-ratio 4-speed, tilt and telescopic, white stripe tires, AM/FM, saddle vinyl interior, 1-year only color Riverside Gold paint and the very rare N-14 exhaust option. It still has its original engine and drivetrain. The third owner, Al Wagner, was a GM Milford proving ground engineer who bought it in 1997 and only put 2,000 miles on it over the next 16 years or so. It has 45,000 original miles (not indicated on title), 100 miles since the frame-off restoration performed by Corvette. Hall of Fame inductee, Werner Meier at Masterworks in Michigan. Original interior with new carpet. Invited to the MCACN L89 display in Chicago 2014. Photo shoot and article in Corvette Magazine December 2014. Awards include NCRS Regional Top Flight, Bloomington Gold, MCACN Triple Diamond, all in 2015. On display at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY, for the summer of 2016. This is a special vehicle that is very rare and desirable. One of the best L89 convertibles in the world. Factory GM documentation includes original Window Sticker, Protect-O-Plate that has been validated by the NCRS. Shipping Data Report shows official production date of September 23, 1969

There was a lot to appreciate about this 1962 resto-mod. With an LS6 and 6 speed for power it brought $99,000.

1964 Corvettes usually don't bring the big money unless they are a top quality resto-mod like this one, of course. The hammer fell at $143,000.

They are calling this a 1964 but it is clearly a Split Window. The big story here is the short stack EFI small block. Beautiful! Bought for $136,400.

Weren't the L89s more rare than the L88s? That would account for the price. Nice car.

That seems pretty reasonable to me. I've got a acquaintance that used to have an all stock 65 Fuelie. Haven't seen him in quite a few years, so don't know if he still has it or not. His was red/red.
