    Default Car #90 on ebay

To those bidding on this car. Make sure you check it out real good. Car was hit hard on passenger side door jamb. Not repaired correctly. Passenger side front tire sticks out of wheel well about an inch when the wheels are straight. Accident was in early-mid 1990's before carfax and not reported.

    Thanks for the heads-up, Andrew.

Sounds like an unscrupulous seller is about to take advantage of someone.

    Got a link?

    Thanks Andy!
Nice looking Callaway TT. Looking over all the seller's pix, the condition is definitely not easy to see. The seller also doesn't mention it in the description. Maybe the buyer will contact Callaway regarding history before the purchase.

When I look at the 2nd picture, the one of the passengers side from the rear of the car,
the bottom of the door appears to stick out a bit while the top of the door looks like it's
tucked in a bit. It might just be the way the picture was taken, but it sure does look
    misaligned to me.......

Did you mention this issue to the current owner when YOU sold the car a few years ago? You did own this car for many years, right?

When I bought this car in 1997 I was told it had been rear ended and was very minor. Never thought anything of it. When I put it up for sale a guy came to see it who knew alot about cars. I told him what I had been told. As we were talking in front of the car he noticed the passenger wheel sticking out of the fenderwell(you can only notice it when the wheels are straight) and we looked at it and found the repair in the door jamb. we took the car to his mechanic and went over every inch of the car. he did not buy it. The next person to look at it was the guy who is selling it on ebay and yes 89x2 he was told everything I knew about it. thanks for assuming I didnt tell him but I am on here warning people. if you would like i can email my conversations with him. By the way I sold him the car for $8500 which I feel was a good price for what it is. I have been a member on her for a number of years and its nice to see that you question or more like accuse me instead of the guy trying to sell it for double with out telling its history. Do you know the seller 89x2?

It was just a question... And he can set the price for whatever he wants, true? After all, he did add a nice looking set of wheels, right?

I don't have a problem with the price I have a problem with not disclosing previous damage. If you feel nice wheels and tires cancel being told of damage that's you. I posted for the people who want to know. It did not come off as a question, it came off as if YOU already knew the answer. Se how capitalization and underlining Change the meaning of things?

I asked the seller about previous body work. He indicated work had been done on the driver door/jamb. He was otherwise vague. He also said it was a repaint.

If he is telling people about the damage that is good. If he is only telling you because you asked about the damage and he thinks you know about it then that's not as honorable. He threatened to sue for letting the history of the car out. I don't want to see anyone pay 16k for a 10k car. If anyone is ok with paying a high price knowing about the damage thats ok with me. Just posting info.

Giving potential buyers a heads-up is a good thing. He can't sue you for telling the truth.....well, he can sue you, but he won't win, and you could get damages.

You know Chris, Andrew makes an excellent point, and one I'd think all Callaway owners and prospective Callaway buyers would appreciate. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I've always been under the impression that one of the cornerstones of the Callaway Owners Group organization and a common practice in this Callaway forum has been to share information regarding all Callaways. To announce and discuss Callaways on the market, their originality, validity, pedigree, history, condition, past ownership, previous damage and repairs and price among other things. As a matter of fact, there's even a sticky thread for just this topic:

    http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/...e-thread*.html

As I perceived it, not only was this a good example of the camaraderie that existed within the Callaway community, but it was good for business. The practice portrayed a certain sense of transparency in the pre-owned Callaway market and showed it to be watched over by a group not only closely aligned with Reeves but directly related to a product with his name on it. At least that was my perception of it. Considering that tradition I must assume you were joking when you implied a nice set of rims doubled the value of the car, or negated the seller's responsibility to fully disclose all the information regarding damages and repairs.

    Good question.

Another which occurs to me would be, is he a member of the Callaway Owners Group? Surely not.

Nice thing to do with the disclosure and warning to others, Andrew. Commendable.

I feel it is a good thing to let everyone know about this car so they can make a knowledgeable decision. It's too bad though that only the people that visit this forum now know about this car. Some innocent enthusiest may purchase this vehicle and be none the wiser, and that's just not right!
