Default 2019 ZR1 Front Splitter Endcaps

Does any one know the real reason why ZTK equipped convertibles do not come with the front splitter endcaps? The option costs the same for the coupe or convertible. I feel those carbon fiber parts should not have been excluded from convertibles, unless there is some sort of aerodynamic conflict with the convertible design. My real interest in the end caps is to protect the outer ends of the front splitter from stone chips.

I am sure that it has to do with aerodynamics, which the vert does not exactly share with the coupe. If GM had found that the end caps helped the vert I am sure that they would be there.

GM was not concerned with stone chips, as you rightfully are.

I tend to think it could be an aerodynamic issue, but no one from GM will give me the real explanation (and I have asked). In all farness to convertible customers, I think the cost of the ZTK option should be adjusted since you get (2) less carbon fiber parts. I am sure those OEM carbon fiber end caps are not cheap to buy separately.

Harlan Charles, the Corvette Program Manager, says the end caps are deleted on Convertibles with ZTK because of the aerodynamic differences between the two body styles.

My interest in these parts is to protect the inside ends of my front splitter from stone chipping. The front splitter ends get peppered with front wheel debris. End caps provide protection from that. Does any one know what the negative aerodynamic effects are if the endcaps are installed on the convertible (if any)?

So, if they turned out to be non-invasive, and I wanted to install this kit on a convertible, I would have to purchase GM part #84359227 called a GM extension package, which lists for $1351.00 (if my information is correct). Convertible buyers paid the exact same price for the ZTK option as coupe buyers, but no convertibles received the endcap package (roughly over 400 convertibles produced to date).
