    Default Corsa Sports

Recently got some Corsa Sports installed on my A6 coupe. Not only did they wake up the sound, they also look much better than the stock tips!

Plus another 10 or so at the tires.

Are they really no drone? I enjoy having a conversation with my lady and listening to the radio...

At cruising RPM's, 2000 to 2500 they cancel out and you don't hear them. At acceleration or anything under power, yes.

Love the sounds Corsa mufflers put out. I love the sound my Borla make, but they have a little drone at certain RPMs and loads, but lucky thing I have the 6MN so I can work around the drone.

What is your cruising speed, 90 - 100 MPH? At 75 mph I'm only turning around 1600 RPM's. LOL

Well whatever the RPM's are when cruising at 75 to 80, you don't hear them.

    Thanks, I've been considering Corsa.

After ditching the run flats we've been enjoying the quiet.

I had Corsa on my 94 and my 01, loved them. My 007 came with the Borla, love the sound, but they do have a little bit of drone, which I can control with a gear change.

The difference in sound, as Huskerman so eloquently described, Borla has a muscle car sound, where the Corsa has a raspy European sound.

    Tom,
Thanks for taking the time to advise.

After finally enjoying the stereo and sound of silence; I want to keep it. I have infantry ears and leaning over to hear her yell got old; real old. She has good ears and after a ride we kept asking the waitress what did you say,

By change the gear you are dropping the RPM. What RPM does the drone start?

I've listened to the Borla-Bondurant driving school film at YouTube and I believe it was the S and they sounded good.

If you haven't guessed; yes, I'm seriously drone paranoid.

On my C6, it's not entirely RPMs, but load has some to do with it as well. Somewhere in the 1600-1800 RPM range and under light load the drone starts up. This is just about 70mph in 6th gear. Usually I just downshift to 5th and with the increase in RPMs drone goes away. I don't think I've ever noticed any drone in any other gear.

How long have you had the non run flats and how is the mileage, handling. You worried about not having the spare?

Load would have an effect. Thanks for the straight answer,

She really prefers the quiet and could care less about RWHP, As she doesn't mind what I do; I cooperate with her also.

My guess is sooner or later the blower will blow out the CATs. When that happens, I'll go to 200 cell metallic, ARH 1-7'8 header, X-pipe and an axle back exhaust. The metallic ones are more "breeze" resistant than ceramics.

Unless the right pedal is depressed, quiet interstate cruising is a big thing with us.

They came on the car; Not the OEM originals, bit replaced. I had them for about a year. After the engine upgrade, I laid down a smoke screen with the run flats the Navy would be proud of and mounted the new ones. We love them. They are quiet and hook up better than the stock GYs. Had a Hunter road force balance and no vibration at any speed. Dealerships call it a "speed balance;" however any tire shop with a Hunter road force machine will do the same for a lot less $$.

With them, MPG is good (33 or so at 70, flat road in 6th), noise is significantly decreased and handling is improved. A stickier compound and more flexible tire. A run flat is kinda of similar to a tire within a tire so the sidewalls are stiff which reduces handling. There isn't any debate on that subject.

I carry a (limp home) plug kit, a 13VDC pump and a can of the ignoble fix-a-flat; plus Triple A.

I'm not one who enjoys speaking loudly or leaning over to hear what she said.
