I Sure Hope Someone Can Help
I just joined the forum, and hate to start out asking questions, but I have a problem, and don't know how to resolve it.
I posted in the tech section, but no one replied.
I have a 2004 c5 with auto trans, and am replacing a broken shift cable.
It is all in place, connected to the brackets, but the cable end that attaches to the trans lever is about an inch, maybe an inch and a half from meeting up with the shift lever on the trans.
Both trans, and shifter are in neutral position.
I tried to adjust at the cable end adjuster, and still the end doesn't line up with the lever on the trans.
I removed the cable, and set it next to the old cable, and they are exactly the same, so I am pretty sure I got the right cable when I bought it.
I just can't figure out why the cable end doesn't line up with the trans lever.
I sure would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks in advance.Last edited by zackh; 01-26-19 at 06:03 PM. Reason: spelling

Thanks Roy for your reply.
I already looked at that post yesterday, but it doesn't address the problem I am having.
I didn't have a problem installing the cable, just getting it adjusted so the rear end of the cable snaps into the lever on the trans.
Even though I adjusted it in both direction on the adjuster, it is still way off from being able to clip on to the trans lever.

Stupid, stupid, stupid me.
Finally figured what was wrong.
I had the rear cable bracket up side down.
Changed it, and the job is done.
Actually the shifter is much more positive than ever before.
My stupidity aside, it works great.Post Thanks / Like - 0 Thanks, 1 Likes, 0 DislikesToms007 liked this post

Ah, yes...one of those "well...duh" moments. I've had many of them.
That's what makes the Corvette DIY stuff so "entertaining"Hib HalversonPost Thanks / Like - 0 Thanks, 1 Likes, 0 DislikesScottsredvette liked this post
