    Default c4 Convertible.

I will try to attach 2 pictures that explain this better. What I have is a 93 Vert. and when the top is down and in the storage position, the rear deck lid does not seem to fit tight on the drivers side as it does on the passenger side, i.e there is a large gap on the drivers side.

There is an adjustment on the bump stop but that does not help. It acts as if it is not closed all they way even though it is latched tight. Is there another adjustment I can do to snug this up?

1st pic is the drvers side (notice gap) and the second is passenger side. (looks normal)

I purchased the car last fall and it was like this already. I did not pay too much attention to it but it sort of bugs me now. Anyhelp is appreciated.

    Thanks

    Anyone?????????

I cant belive mine is the only C4 Vert that has had this issue. If there is another thread that covered this (on this board) I can not seem to find it.

I will look on other boards as well and post what I find.

I'm curious too. I've not seen one do that and I don't recall any threads covering a similar issue.

I'll send a link to this thread to c4c5specialist and see if he can offer suggestions.

Now you have me wondering, I will check mine out when I get home.

One problem I have had is if the top latches are not turned into the closed position when the top is down then when the lid is closed I get a rattle.

    Hmmmmmmmm...

Have you run a carFax on this car? This sounds like poorly repaired crash damage to me.

Thanks for all of the replies. An thanks for the PM Jane Ann.

Carfax was clear. No crash damage.

The only thing I can think of is that this car has 2 huge amps and sub-woofers with a custom built box that was put in behind the seats. I am thinking the lid had to be removed when putting this in but the hinge bolts etc all seem to look fine. I am not sure if it would be like a door that needs adjusting or somthing. Like I said I raised and lowered the bump stops but that does not seem to help.

If I find it I will post the solution!

    Thanks

Just a shot in the dark here, but if all else fails, I wonder if you took it by a paint and body shop, someone there may know a quick fix. Could be if they do Corvette repairs they may spot the problem easily.

I checked mine out last night and noted that it is possible to get one side latched and the other side not properly latched. I would first pull up on the higher side and see if it is latched. If you can pull it up slightly then it is just not getting caught by the latch and I would suspect that the lid might be sprung.

Secondly look at the bracket that attaches to the cover and fits into the latch. See if it is bent the same (actually it's opposite hand but you know what I mean) as the one on the other side. I would start by measuring the distance from the bottom of the lid to where it goes into the latch. It looks like this can be unbolted and if necessary it could be bent in a vice into the same size as the other side. Since it can be unbolted it might be slightly out of alignment.

It also looks like the latch mechanism itself can be adjusted down slightly to pull the lid down further.

I haven't had this problem on my '89 but I have seen others with deck lids out of alignment and often wondered why they didn't adjust it correctly. After reading some of the comments above I guess adjusting could be a little tricky. When C4C5 specialist sees this post I'm sure he'll have the correct answers.
