    Default Half shaft concerns

Will my stock shafts hold up to 375 rwhp with 3:70 gears? Tires are 285/55/15.Car is a daily driver but does see some time at the track.Or are there any other concerns besides the shafts I should be looking out for?

I have a nice set of 3-in. half-shafts for sale to fit that vintage of C3.

I would run a high stall with that , 2000-2400 to lessen rear end and 1/2 shaft "shock" , the car will be no less driveable on the street and you will have a decided advantage at the strip

If you run slicks, you can expect stock half-shafts to eventually look like these.

As John said, depends on how you drive the car. 370 hp is enough to wreck the shaft, crack the posi case and snap an axle if constant abuse is applied.

Here is a destroyed posi from a 370 hp car with a lot of abuse. I brought this one back to life BTW. The stock 3" shafts had solid spicers I installed prior and were rock solid.

I'm building a complete IRS and 12 bolt diff for a 800hp '78 now. That will not be fit with stock 3" shaft but 3.5" .134" walled shafts with solid spicers.

Think about how you're going to drive it, if just on the street then 2.5 or 3" stokc shafts are fine.

Another good source for killer driveshafts and half-shafts is these guys:

Inland Empire Driveline Service, Inc. - Driveshafts, Pinion and Transmission Yokes, Center Support Bearings

I had them build my 3.5" aluminum halfshafts which worked quite well.

You can't miss "Michelle" the hotie to talks to you as you look at the homepage.

Van Steel and Tom's Differential built the carbon-fiber half-shafts and diff for "King Ray", our 572 crate motor-powered "Corvette Enthusiast" project car built by the late Jerry Clark.
