Default need help with the '82

I thought the car was all set and then we put in a new optima battery and now it won't start. I thought we at some point had replaced the fuel pump. Not sure if its fuel related or ECM.

they checked the fuses. The Vette has no fuel coming from the injectors when cranking.
Husbands friend is coming by next weekend and check out the relay and computer and power to the fuel pump...if someone knows where the relay is mounted behind the passenger seat this would help or any other idea. what would cause the sudden problem ..

    any ideas??

    Lori,

In the compartment behind the passenger seat, there is an insert that serves as tray to keep things from rolling around below the rear deck. If you pull it out, you'll find that there are some relays in there...I am guessing, but feel confident they may be there.

p.s. May need a mirror to get the right angle to spot them. I believe that they are under the compartment's latch area.

Before you go tearing fuel system/ECM stuff apart...do a quick check for spark.

The L83 injectors are triggered from the Distributor Reference Pulse...meaning if there's a problem in the ignition system preventing spark...there will be NO fuel from the injectors!

The fuel pump relay is located in the battery compartment. Some are located between the battery and the ecm and others are located BEHIND the ecm mounting plate.... yeah, who thought of that. The relays rarely go bad though so Id look at the simple stuff first. There is an inline fuse that draws power directly from the battery for the relay. It should be located on the drivers side of the battery in an inline holder. There are also two fuses in the fuse block under the dash labeled inj1 and inj2. When you turn the key to the ON position you should hear the fuel pump humm for a couple seconds to charge the system with fuel. If you hear this humm them the problem is not with the relay or pump but injectors themselves but it would be unusual for both injectors to stop at the same time.
