Would you believe that prior to being on the vette, my buddy Josh had the 15" wheels on his S10 pickup?!?! So in my eyes, the 15" rims look more like something off of an S10!

'dre, the spinners give it a link to the past, reminiscent of the knock off wheels of the mid sixties, with a touch of the present with the newer style wheels, on a car that is somewhere in between. I kind of like those connections.

    That's what I was thinking.
My car is already patterned off the 63GS and the 82CE, so there's definitely credence to it being an amalgamation of sorts.

I also agree to some extent. Most 18" or larger on C3's look like choo-choo train or clown car wheels. Not all, but most.
However, to state again, if you want a performance tire, our hands are essentially forced to getting a 17" rim.

Another thing that is helping propagate the idea of 17"+ on older cars is the whole G-machine movement taking place right now. The resto-mod crowd is big and it seems to be all about updating but keeping some historical reference to the original. Heck, even the Big 3 (for now) are getting into it, e,g, the new Challenger, Charger, Mustang, etc...

The big 3 seem to be in bankruptcy too.... J/K

17's would not look bad I don't guess. I am just old school and get a funny little sick feeling in my gut when I see an old classic with anything other than the 15s. I start looking for the hydraulics and the fuzzy dice and the horn that "no speak englis"

I gotta go with function over fashion, and the old fashion just don't lend itself to the function I require of it. I held out as long as I could with the 15's...I really did!

I'm gonna put a more official post over in the "for sale" section, but I wanted to let y'all know that I'm gonna stick with the 17's which means that I'm gonna sell the 15's with the tires still on 'em. Obviously, they are bolt-on replacements. I'm asking $400 + whatever shipping costs.

Thought I'd update this thread with the final pics of my new wheels.
To everyone that said the difference in handling would be noticeable...uhh, yeah, slight understatement!!!

I think some of you might have to admit that the difference between 15" and 17" rims was not as drastic aesthetically as you'd first imagined.

Hey! Looks good! What brand wheel,& what size tires? Looks like you got more rubber on yours than mine. But I think youre also still at stock ride height? I'm on 17's and 245/45/17" rubber, but I lowered the vette down over them 1.5" to fill up the wheel wells properly.

The size is 255/50. They are Riken "Raptor". Riken is an unadvertised brand that Michelin makes. It's kinda hard to find anything out about 'em though due to that reason.
