Default Stainless Steel or Steel for Gas Line Fuel Pump to Carb (62 300 HP)

I see the Cvt. Central list both. Current one on engine is steel as a magnet sticks to it. Anyone have opinion on pro or con for either? Thanks for any info.

Good question. If you want it to look original go with the steel. It is also a little softer than stainless and the flare will conform to the fitting easier and seal better. I have heard that it is possible for the flare to crack on stainless due to it's harder properties. We use a lot of stainless tubing where I work but always with compression fittings. Rust on the fuel line is usually not an issue so stainless isn't necessary, unless you want the bling.

The original TBW (steel) lines lasted this long, probably under less than pampered conditions. A replacement TBW line will probably almost outlast cockroaches if Armageddon ever takes place.
