Ponce Inlet Corvette Club

The Ponce Inlet Corvette Club originated in March of 2005. The Club has grown into a respected, active and acknowledged Corvette Club that meets in Ponce Inlet Florida. In January of 2005 local Ponce Inlet residents, Gary and Dianne Swanhart purchased a new C6 red coupe from local Chevrolet Dealer Jon Hall. Shortly after the PICC was organized Jon Hall Chevrolet became the Club’s Sponsor. The twist in the story took place shortly after they got the car home. Jon Hall was contacted by representatives of Wrangler Jeans and Dale Earnhardt Jr. to see if the Dealership could provide them with a red Corvette to film a Wrangler Jeans commercial at the Daytona International Speedway. At the time they did not have another red C6 in stock but they remembered just having delivered a red C6 coupe to Gary and Dianne. The Swanharts were contacted and asked if they would be willing to support the filming with their new Corvette. They agreed and Gary and Dianne took the new C6 to the track and met Dale Jr. During the filming they both got to meet him and had Dale Jr. sign the dash of their new Corvette.Shortly after that event the Club was organized and Jon Hall Chevrolet became the Club’s first Sponsor. The initial meeting was held on February 22, 2005. Sixteen prospective members from Ponce Inlet, Daytona Beach Shores, Ormond Beach and Port Orange were in attendance. A general design for a “Club Logo” that depicted the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse with a C5 emblem across the background of the lighthouse was adopted.Since that initial meeting the Ponce Inlet Corvette Club has become well known for attending local car shows, cruise-ins and is a Charitable and Social Club. Members are owners of Corvettes from 1959 to 2012. Proceeds from our annual VETTES AT THE LIGHT show and fund raisers are donated to charity. Our annual car show has become a focal point of Corvette Clubs and Corvette enthusiasts throughout the state of Florida. The Club’s participation in “SPEEDWEEKS” in February of 2009 and once again at the July 2009 races at Daytona International Speedway brought Corvette owners and Corvette Clubs from all over Florida as well as Georgia, Maryland and Ohio to the Speedway. Corvette owners participating in the event were selected to drive the NASCAR drivers around the Speedway during the NASCAR Drivers formal introductions to the fans prior to the start of the races.

Port City Corvette Club

A number of years ago, a group of car enthusiasts who shared the same interest in the CORVETTE organized a car club which was named the PORT CITY CORVETTES. This club operated for several years until interest waned or other reasons kept them from remaining an active club.Several years later, another group of Corvette owners began to revive the interest in a local Corvette club. We placed ads in local newspapers, placed posters in various locations and contacted all the local Corvette owners that we had met.We held our first official meeting in September of 1989. At this meeting, we elected our club's first slate of officers. The officers were: President, Ralph Pipkin; Vice President, Larry Owens; Secretary/ Treasurer, Marie Fenton; and NCCC Governor, Randy Aderholt. The club was incorporated on November 16, 1989, with the initial Board of Directors being William Harris, Randy Aderholt and Ralph Pipkin. The incorporators are William Harris and Ralph Pipkin. Our club was initially organized with eight members. Today, we have over fifty members including a variety of ages, interests and backgrounds. Our growth has been impressive over a relatively short time. Each year, we elect new officers and gain new members. With fresh ideas and the vigor that new members and new officers bring with them, we continue to grow our club.Port City Corvettes, Inc. has one designated activity each month and there are usually several other shared with other groups for members to participate in on an individual basis. These activities include drive and eat cruises, caravans, rallies, out of town trips, car shows, drag races, swap meets and cookouts. Member interest levels range from those who completely rebuild and restore their Corvettes to those who just enjoy driving and owning them. The club tries to provide something of interest to everyone.Port City Corvettes, Inc. is a non-profit organization with our proceeds going to a charity selected by the club each year.

Queen City Corvette Club

Queen City Corvette Club was organized in 1968 and we will be celebrating our 47th Birthday in August of 2015. We are the largest and most active Corvette club in North Carolina with over 300 members. Our members range in age from the mid 20’s all the way up to our senior member who is 100 years young. A range of Corvettes is represented, from vintage C1 models to the most current C7 model 2015 Corvette. The primary goal of our club is ownership, driving, and sharing our Corvettes with others, while establishing close friendships with people who share a passion for Corvettes. Our activities include car shows, overnight and day road trips, parades, poker runs, car care days, cruise-ins, and high performance driving events. Our overnight road trips have included various destinations like: National Corvette Museum, Corvettes at Myrtle Beach, Corvettes at Carlisle and many more day trips. We participated in the 5th National Corvette Museum Caravan in 2014, with our own member, Paul Mariano, as the 2014 National Chairman of the Caravan. The caravan marked the 20th anniversary of the opening of the museum, and drew thousands of Corvette owners from across the US and several foreign countries. The club’s social activities include BBQ’s, ice cream socials, picnics, and of course our famous Monday and Wednesday night dinner gatherings. These dinners give us an opportunity to gather at various restaurants throughout the greater Charlotte area, and allow us to get to know fellow members, and especially new members better. It also gives us an excuse to shine our cars and show them off! Our Wednesday group meets weekly and our Monday “Up Yonder” group meets on the last Monday of each month in the Lake Norman area.Queen City Corvette Club is a social non-profit club and is very active in the charity arena. We put on an annual car show with the help of our primary sponsor City Chevrolet, to raise funds that are donated to local and national charities. The past several years we supported through our charity fund, Matthews Free Medical Clinic, USO of Charlotte, the National Corvette Museum, Pilgrim’s Inn, and Barium Springs Home for Children. We also have supported the 145th National Guard Children and the Matthews Help Center Children at Christmas time.
