The Bowling Green Corvette Assembly plant will be idle the week of February 20th due to an unspecified parts shortage that GM states, is not related to semiconductors.
According to GM spokesperson Dan Flores:
“Our supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams are working closely with our supply base to mitigate any further impact on production to meet the strong demand for our products.”
As a result, orders for the 2023 Corvette with targeted production week dates, will be pushed back one week.
Production is expected to resume on Monday, February 27th.
Semiconductor Shortage
This is the first Corvette Assembly Plant shutdown we’ve seen so far this year, and one of the few times we’ve seen Corvette production come to a halt for a parts shortage not involving semiconductors.
Even thought Corvette production will be shut down for the week, the Jack Cooper Transport company will continue picking up Corvettes that have been built and delivering them to dealers.
