Some customers may comment on a pulsation and/or vibration when they apply the brakes.

Customer may also comment they hear a rattle noise from the wheel area. The noise may go away when the brakes are lightly applied.

Cause

This condition may be due to excessive lateral runout (LRO) or interation between the inner top hat section to the rotor ring.

Check the lateral runout:

  • For front rotors and vehicles built prior to May 31, 2016, replace old two piece design (2) with new one piece design (1).
  • For rear rotors and vehicles built prior to July 23, 2015, replace old two piece design (2) with new one piece design (1).

Important: The rotors MUST be replaced as a pair due to a design change.

Note: DO NOT replace all brake rotors unless you find the lateral runout out of spec for both the front and rear corners.

Service Procedure

Refer to Brake Rotor Assembled Lateral Runout Correction and Front and Rear Brake Rotor Replacement-Both Sides in SI.
