DESCRIPTION:

ESTIMATE: $200,000 - $250,000

In contrast to every other engine in the 1971 Chevrolet lineup, the Corvette LS6’s 454 CI engine was not detuned to run on unleaded fuel; rather, it flew in the face of corporate policy, requiring premium leaded fuel to fire its 425 horsepower, a final shot across the corporate bow by Corvette’s individualistic Chief Engineer Zora Arkus Duntov. As a result, the LS6 is one of the most avidly sought-after big block Corvettes of that era. This 1971 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is one of only 188 produced in either T-top or convertible body style with the LS6 454/425 HP big block V-8, in this case the original matching numbers engine with the very rare Muncie M22 "Rock Crusher" 4-speed and 3.36 Positraction rear end. A frame-off restoration by Nabers Brothers of Houston, it has won multiple National and Regional NCRS Top Flight Awards, NCRS Performance Verification and the Duntov Mark of Excellence award. Finished in handsome Bridgehampton Blue, it is optioned with aluminum heads, leather seats, tilt-telescopic steering, transistorized ignition, aluminized exhaust, A.I.R. smog controls, Rally wheels with White letter F70-15 Firestone Wide Oval tires, tinted glass and AM/FM stereo. With an owner history that includes Carter Pirkle, Arnold Kaplan, Larry Hill and Terry Michaelis, this is an exceedingly correct car that looks, runs and drives beautifully and is well documented with the warranty pamphlet, owner’s manual packet, Protect-O-Plate and judging awards.
