Pros: Corvette is a good choice in a book for kids which gives the reader an attention-getting introduction to America's Sports Car.
Cons: What's lacking in this book is discussion of how the Corvette has affected popular culture and become an American icon.

This book marks the launch of an interesting concept developed by Motorbooks: a series of titles, called "Drive, Ride, Fly" to introduce kids to automotive enthusiast car, motorcycles and aircraft. Corvette, written by noted authority, Mike Muller, who's already published several books about the car, is aimed at children 10 and up. It incorporates a flashy style that's sure to keep a kid's attention. This edginess is achieved via a contemporary design and thought-provoking imagery.

Muller shows his Corvette savvy and, experienced children's book writer, Woods keeps the prose from getting, too, technical or intense. The book gives the young reader a fairly in-depth understanding of all six series and 53 years of production along with Corvettes in racing and important people in the car's history.

What's lacking in this book is discussion of how the Corvette has affected popular culture and become an American icon nor is there any material on Corvettes as a hobby, such as the experiences major Corvette events such as Corvettes at Carlisle, Bloomington Gold or the National Corvette Caravans offer young enthusiasts. Lastly, this book needs a page devoted to the National Corvette Museum.

Motorbooks is to be commended for the Drive, Ride, Fly concept. While this book could have better achieved its goal at 100 pages and material on Corvette culture and events, Corvette is a good choice in a book for kids which gives the reader an attention-getting introduction to America's Sports Car.
