Description:

The Peeler™ is amazingly efffective at removing silicone gasket material. It also works well when removing paper or fiber gasket residue. It is much easier and faster than common knives or scrapers.
The Peeler's unique, self-leveling conical blade does not dig or gouge into surfaces. Free rotation of the blade maintains a good, sharp cutting edge without nicks or flat spots. The Peeler can be used in any of the following motions: forward, backward, sideways, circular and upside-down.
The hand-held Peeler features a short, easy-to-hold handle for close, powerful control of the blade. If necessary, the hardened steel blade can be re-ground and is easily replaced. The Powered Peeeler is available for air-ratchet and powered screw drivers (max. 500 rpm). It fits 9/16" sockets.

Usually, the best tools ideas are the simple ones.
Take the "Peeler" from Valco Cincinnati Consumer Products--it's a gasket scraper, but not like any you've seen before. It's so simple, it begs the proverbial question: why didn't anyone think of this before?
The Peeler is a wooden rod, turned on a lathe to give it a handle shape, with a circular, rotating blade on the bottom. You hold the Peeler like a lever. Place the circular blade flat on the surface to be scraped and move the tool back, forth and sideways to remove a wide-variety of gaskets.
The Peeler was designed to remove chemical gasket material such as RTV silicone sealers, polyester-based sealers, such as Valco Hylomar, and various anaerobic products. It also works well when removing paper or fiber gasket residue. It is easier to use and removes gasket remnants faster than common knives or scrapers. The Peeler's self-leveling blade has a conical cutting edge on its outside diameter. It does not dig or gouge into surfaces. The rotation of the blade maintains a sharp cutting edge without nicks or flat spots.
I have used the Peeler to remove header gaskets, valve cover gaskets and RTV used to seal the case halves of Richmond six-speeds. This simple tool is easy to use, works very well and is a great value. It's been a welcome addition to my tool box.
There is a powered version of the Peeler for use with air ratites or power screw drivers. The "Power Peeler" can be used at a maximum speed of 500 rpm, fits into a 9/16-in. socket and has a rubber o-ring to retain the Power Peeler in the socket during use.
For more information on the Peeler or the Power Peeler, contact Valco Cincinnati Consumer Products, 411 Circle Freeway Dr., Cincinnati OH 45246. Ph: 513 874 6550 Web: www.valco-cp.com
