MY Garage Museum & Retail Store Museum Special Saturday Events are: February 17 – Mid America Motorworks 33rd Anniversary Celebration &
Weekend Workshop Nowhere is the American love affair with the automobile better illustrated than in the MY Garage Museum & Retail Store. At any one time there are 20 or more one-of-a-kind Corvettes, vintage VW’s and original movie cars, including Herbies from Disney’s “Herbie Goes Bananas” and “Herbie Fully Loaded” movies, on display in a vintage store front setting. Nestled between the cars are thousands of vintage automotive memorabilia displays including toys, antiques, and much more. Both the theme of the museum and its featured vehicles change often, so visiting now and then is worth the drive. A 1910 gas station, rescued from demolition and restored on site, offers a unique photo opportunity. The free museum is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is located on the Mid America Motorworks corporate campus, north U.S. Route 45, 2 1/2 miles north of Effingham, Exit 162 at the crossroads of I70 & I57. 217-540-4277. “Get Your Parts Before Summer Starts” Swapfest & Low Speed Autocross May 5, 2007 Swapfest is an “old time” swap meet for all car enthusiasts. Swapfest is also a great time for all automotive enthusiasts to get together for a casual “fun day” to show off their ride, swap stories and information and dice it out against the clock on our Low Speed Autocross challenge. Mid America Motorworks has an expanded Swap area to handle more vendors and a new Low Speed Autocross. There is a $15 entry fee for the timed and classed competition. 20’ x 20’ swap meet spaces are available for $40 each, with a limit of four spaces per exhibitor. Persons can sell a vehicle at the Swapfest “Car Corral” for a non-refundable fee of $25 per vehicle. Only private sellers and car clubs are allowed, no new parts, or apparel are permitted to be sold. All items for sale must be used automotive parts, accessories, or memorabilia of any car marque. There is no charge for buyers/lookers to attend Swapfest. In addition, Swapfest attendees can purchase Mid America Motorworks’ returned, scratched, and discontinued merchandise at special discount prices. All new items in the Mid America Motorworks catalog are sold at 10% off, with free ground shipping. The two-day Funfest is the best Air-Cooled enthusiasts party anywhere. It is expected to attract more than 1,200 Air-Cooled VWs, and 8,000 enthusiasts.
