Default 2012 CAC Bowling Green CruiseFest...

I haven't seen much movement on this topic lately and it is getting closer and soon will be upon us....

After a few hours on the Heart Dyno Table at the Tucson VA Hospital..... Nanc and I plan to attend this year at Bowling Green....

Friends of ours from North Platte, NE will be joining us for the trip in their Medium Spiral Grey 2004 Vert.

We haven't decided on our route yet, so anyone looking to get together with us let me know....

ALSO a trip to Bowling Green means a visit to the Corvette Plant. Maybe we can get a group tour if we get enough interest... Don't dilly dally we need to get on this right away

Catbert has been spearheading everything and doing a great job, let's not make this event a wash, come enjoy the LAID BACK CruiseFest this year, it will be what you make it

    Here is some "Official" Information

    Announcing CruiseFest 2012

    What is CruiseFest?

CruiseFest is a get-together for Corvette Action Center forum participants, friends, spouses, or anyone who enjoys relaxing and enjoying their "Corvette Summer."

    What are the dates?

We have chosen the week of June 10 -16th. Most attendees will stay for a portion of that time period, but we wanted to give everyone time to explore on their own before or after the group activities. Remember, the Corvette Assembly Plant is only open from Monday through Thursday, so plan accordingly if you want to tour the plant. The Bowling Green Hot Rods, minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, will be in town starting on the 12th for minor league baseball fans. Also remember that Bowling Green is a great place to stay and take day trips to places like Fort Knox (gold repository and Armor Museum), the attractions of Nashville and Kentucky horse country.

    Who can Attend?

Anyone who enjoys Corvette /car centered activities or just cruising around beautiful southern Kentucky north central Tennessee with friends and new acquaintances.

    Who is sponsoring CruiseFest?

CruiseFest is an unsponsored activity organized by Corvette Action Center forum participants, Catbert and others.. Corvette Action Center management has not organized nor underwritten any of the activities, and is not responsible for any aspect of CruiseFest.

What are the costs of CruiseFest and participation?

There are no fixed costs associated with CruiseFest. Members are responsible only for their own expenses. The cost of attractions are the responsibility of each participant. Most activities are free or very reasonable.

Where will the CruiseFest be held?

We have selected a host hotel, the Country Inn and Suites, but attendees are free to choose their own lodging. The benefits of using the host hotel include a greatly reduced rate for truly superior accommodations, fitness center, in-room fridge and microwave, flat screen TVs, free breakfast, a choice of standard large room or suite at a reasonable additional cost. The major advantage of the host hotel is the opportunity to "hang" with other attendees to plan the day's activities. With the no set agenda format, we can sit around during or after breakfast to figure out who wants to get together for the daily activities. This format worked well the last time we met in BG for CruiseFestivus in 20009.

Very special rates have been provided by Country Inn ans Suites, but must be made from this special CruiseFest webpage:

I am trying to setup a Corvette Plant Tour for either Wednesday June 13th or Thursday June 14th.

I will contact the plant and see if they will be available during those dates. So far I have 6 folks that are in for a tour... If you want to do the tour please post here.. otherwise I will call and try to set it up for those I KNOW will go on the tour!

I have reservations at the hotel and as of now, plan to attend by myself as my brother has declined due to other committments. If we get a minimal turnout, then I will come. I haven't defined minimal in my mind. We need some kind of head count. Since Catbert was at the C5/C6 bash, I assume that he knows the way back to the NCM and will be there in June. If the turnout is sufficient, I can set up a cruise thru the NCM; I've already contacted Chris Sweeney and he says that it will take only a couple of days notification to get the cruise going. For the no-cost self-guided cruise, the NCM provides the routes with copies of the directions for each participant. If we want a guided cruise, it costs $100. What is consensus for a cruise and day? I thought Friday as there is no assembly plant tour. So far, the CACers that have committed to the "non-CF for the rest of us" are Catbert, Yoda (and friend), LT4Man, and myself. Hardly worth traveling 2500 miles for the event, even tho I really like getting together with my friends. Billy's Z06 (now owns the Callaway) may show up, but he is also contemplating a Cruise at the Wisconsin Dells with the Corvette Adventures group at the same time. Wonder what the next two weeks will bring in those notifying their intent. Wonder if anyone of the above has changed their minds about attending?

Glad you will be able to make it Bud! There's always room for Cornhuskers and former Cornhuskers - of which I'm one.

I urge all of the attendees to make reservations as early as possible - they are cancelable if something comes up.

I had a great time in BG last weekend at the bash.

On a separate note - The Baymont Inn is belly up. After being the Vette set favorite for two decades, they made enough enemies that they were boycotted by both forums and individuals. The place is gutted, and will reopen as a Holiday Inn Express.

Special CAC rates expire on the 12th of May. The hotel is booked for the CruiseFest dates unless booked through the CAC exclusive website. Make your reservations now. Cancellations are permitted until the day before. The rate is $50 a night cheaper than the Hampton, and the hotel is nicer IMHO. Remember, breakfast is provided, and the TVs are flat screens!

That's one vote for the guided cruise on Friday. If we get enough, we can split the $100 fee between those going on the cruise.

I am in favor of a cruise on Friday. If we have several folks, I am in for the guided one.

If we test-run the route before Friday, and someone is willing to lead, I am good for that, also. (Too many "commas" possibly?)

While traveling to BG in your Vette, please be sure to SAVE the WAVE!
