Sorry hear that. Harry Morgan (Col. Potter from MASH) passed also.
I hate to hear that. Col. Potter was another one of my favorites.
I had heard about Harry Morgan, but not Dobey Gray....

The name didn't register with me right away, but I immediately recognized the tune. Very sad to hear about his (and Harry Morgan's) passing. Seems like more and more of the rock artists from my childhood have been slowly 'drifting away...'
Not to hijack the thread, but this news of Dobie's passing reminded me (for somewhat similar reasons) of the sudden passing a few years ago of Kelly Groucutt. He was best known as the basist for Electric Light Orchestra, but did one solo album back in 1983 and was also involved with follow-on ELO-style groups like ELO Part II and The Orchestra. But one of the things that people always remarked on was his vocal range; ELO had a track on their A New World Record album entitled "Rockaria!" on which a bona fide opera singer performed some of the vocals; but live on stage, Kelly would duplicate them.
