    Announcing CruiseFest 2012

    What is CruiseFest?

CruiseFest is a get-together for Corvette Action Center forum participants, friends, spouses, or anyone who enjoys relaxing and enjoying their "Corvette Summer."

    What are the dates?

We have chosen the week of June 10 -16th. Most attendees will stay for a portion of that time period, but we wanted to give everyone time to explore on their own before or after the group activities. Remember, the Corvette Assembly Plant is only open from Monday through Thursday, so plan accordingly if you want to tour the plant. The Bowling Green Hot Rods, minor league affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, will be in town starting on the 12th for minor league baseball fans. Also remember that Bowling Green is a great place to stay and take day trips to places like Fort Knox (gold repository and Armor Museum), the attractions of Nashville and Kentucky horse country.

    Who can Attend?

Anyone who enjoys Corvette /car centered activities or just cruising around beautiful southern Kentucky north central Tennessee with friends and new acquaintances.

    Who is sponsoring CruiseFest?

CruiseFest is an unsponsored activity organized by Corvette Action Center forum participants, Catbert and others.. Corvette Action Center management has not organized nor underwritten any of the activities, and is not responsible for any aspect of CruiseFest.

What are the costs of CruiseFest and participation?

There are no fixed costs associated with CruiseFest. Members are responsible only for their own expenses. The cost of attractions are the responsibility of each participant. Most activities are free or very reasonable.

Where will the CruiseFest be held?

We have selected a host hotel, the Country Inn and Suites, but attendees are free to choose their own lodging. The benefits of using the host hotel include a greatly reduced rate for truly superior accommodations, fitness center, in-room fridge and microwave, flat screen TVs, free breakfast, a choice of standard large room or suite at a reasonable additional cost. The major advantage of the host hotel is the opportunity to "hang" with other attendees to plan the day's activities. With the no set agenda format, we can sit around during or after breakfast to figure out who wants to get together for the daily activities. This format worked well the last time we met in BG for CruiseFestivus in 20009.

Sounds great, a week in BG. You were able to schedule the event without conflicts. Bloomington Gold is June 21 - 24, NCCC annual convention June 23 - 29 in Topeka (that's in Kansas in case Tom is viewing). Don't know if MAMW has an event scheduled for that week. Looks like I will be able to attend CF 2012, or will it be non CF for the rest of us? BTW, for 2103, NCCC will be holding it's convention in BG at the NCM. Maybe we could piggy back CF 2013 onto this event so I wouldn't have to make 3 trips to BG; two per year is my usual routine.

Hopefully you all can find this information faster than I could

Buddy of mine from Manteca, CA called this afternoon and asked about CruiseFest 2012. I had mentioned it was a strong possibility we would be back in Bowling Green this year and he said count me in if it is... Well my ole pal Dave called today, then found this posting and called and made reservation for Monday ~ Friday June 11th ~ 15th.

I also have friends from Nebraska (North Platte) that are planning to attend this years event ... Dave most likely will drive his GS, Steve and Kathy their 2006 Spiral Grey Vert... and if Nanc and I can make it we will most likely drive ABBY... I will know more after February 10th or so..

Dave and Steve & Kathy along with the Mrs. want to see the factory.... yea the inside and see a Corvette being built

It would probably behoove us to get a list of folks that want to take the Factory Tour, it is not free anymore and I am not sure the cost, but will find out before June

Anyone interested please PM or Email me so I can get a list started, then I can call ahead of time and hopefully get a Group tour setup...

OK all you folks that didn't want to go to Colorado Springs, Cleveland, Effingham but SAID YOU WOULD go if it was in Bowling Green.... WELL 2012 CRIUSE FEST IS AT BOWLING GREEN, KY!!

    Bud,
LT4Man and I toured the assembly plant last August when we attended the Hall Of Fame festivities over the labor day weekend. The cost of the tour was $7.50 each. We were fortunate enough to be volunteers for the NCM and served breakfast to the plant workers to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Chevrolet. The assembly plant has announced their schedule for tours for 2012. The tours are offered Monday thru Thursday. In June, when we will have CF, the non tour days are all Fridays, June 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29.

Catbert could start a list and publish it every so often to get a count, as he and LT4Man are the coordinators of the event. As I said in the above post, I plan to be there.

    Barrett,

Great Idea about the list for the tour, BUT this is not intended to be a structured CruiseFest Event as in the past, this is more in line with what happened during Cruisefestousfortherestofus....

It would be nice to have a list, but let's not volunteer anyone ... Should thing go well for me in Tucson next month and I am able to make it to CruiseFest this year I would be happy to get a list and pass it along to the Corvette Plant for a Reserved Tour

Anyone wanting to step up there is plenty of room on stage

There is a link in the announcement for reservations and other information is on the net. Anyone who wants to coordinate a visit to any place or activity is welcome to do so. I set up this CruiseFest in the "CruiseFestivus" style, whch means it's planned and organized by the attendees. EVERYONE is welcome to plan and organize anything they want to while in BG. I'll start up a trip to the ballpark closer to the event time, and possibly a visit to the local custom spirit establishment.

I've been meaning to start attending things like this. Given that I'm spending a lot of time in nearby Lexington, KY, and with the end of the world predicted in December (), perhaps I should make a better effort for this one...? But the chances of me getting an entire week off during the height of the best flight testing weather we see in Kentucky is pretty close to zero; so I will need to pick one weekend or the other, and maybe get an extra day (Monday or Friday) off to make it like a "shifted" weekend. Which would be better from a display and activities standpoint: Sunday, 10 June/Monday, 11 June; or Friday, 15 June/Saturday, 16 June...?

Would also like to bring the Aztec Gold out for this, but that might present a logistical problem with it being in Pittsburgh, and me having no place truly suitable to park it here in Lexington, even for a week or so...

No problem! It is set up for a almost a week so folks have a choice on the dates they want to attend. Stay for a week, or stay for a day - just show up and meet some of the questionable forum members youv'e been "wondering" about.

I am 99.99% sure I will be traveling to BG in June SAVING the WAVE!

Life gets in the way, sometimes.

Will be good to see all the "old" faces and hopefully, a lot of "new" ones.

    Keep on SAVING that WAVE!
