    53 - 1953 Corvettes at Corvettes at Carlisle 2003

On Friday, August 22, 2003 at approximately 11:00 AM ET, a monumental event occurred in Corvette history; 53 1953 Corvettes assembled at Corvettes at Carlisle in Carlisle, PA. Chip Miller and his business partner, Bill Miller were successful in pulling together 53 1953 Corvettes to celebrate the Corvette's 50th anniversary.

Check out Corvettes at Carlisle 2003: 53-1953 Corvettes for a listing of owners, history of some of the 1953 Corvettes in attendance and photos of the event.

The '53's were an awesome display. Thanks for the link Rob. I would have liked to have seen them outside the tent but I missed them. When they were inside the tent it was kind of strange. Looking down the line it almost defied logic. MY brain kept telling me that I was looking at a much shorter row of Corvettes with a mirror at the end of the row. It's hard to believe that there are even 53 of them left given the low number produced. Am I correct that only 300 were made? I was really skeptical that Chip would able to reach his goal of 53 of them but there they were with a few spares in different places around the fairgrounds! It all ended too soon for me. I wish I could go back this weekend!

Actually, Chip's goal was 50 - 1953 Corvettes, but he ended up with 53.

Yes, you are correct that only 300 1953 Corvettes were built.
