Ben called today to tell us they have him off the running part of his daily PT. He is in charge of the battery and leads them daily through their workout starting with a 10 mile warm up. Lately he has had some pain in his ankle area and they took x-rays and did an MRI. It looks like he has cracks in his shin and has to lay off running for awhile. They fit him for custom orthotics and he can only work out with no running, so now he gets to stand and bark at the slackers!
He also has been monitored for high blood pressure. At this point he is not going on medicine or such but will be watched and just remain at the high end.
He also had cool info for us saying he paid off his boat loan in full.
Life is good for our son, rightfully so.

I read this thread not enough, but when I do it wells me up at the support the CAC gives the service men and women. I cannot say it as well as some, but as an old retired serviceman myself, I would reverently say, Godspeed and thanks to all serving in harms way.
Ray
The CAC is there for my son and his mates, a great support group for sure.
I have to be honest in that this thread seems to have taken on a life of its own, I started this one evening as Ben was deploying to Iraq the first time, I had to get this off my chest as it seemed like my world was falling apart. I then decided to keep posting and giving updates on him to help show a group of people how it really is for our troops and how it felt as a proud father to have a child in a war.
Men like you Ray are what has made America great and we thank you for your effort and sacrifice.

He called last night to tell me about helicopter underwater survival training. They put him in a capsule mockup of a chopper and drop them into a tank of water.....the rest is just too cool. Unfortunatly I now have to take care in what I say about what he is doing, but he said he had sinuses full of water and came through with flying colors.
He has so much infront of him its amazing, I told him I wished I could see life through his eyes from here on out.
What a ride.....![]()

I've seen that exercise on video. It doesn't look like fun but better to learn to handle it in a pool rather than in reality...

I watched a video clip that was taken at the same pool he did his training in and it does look intimidating...he told me he had to go in the drink 8 times!
He is getting his boat and camping gear prepped to go for a long weekend this coming Friday....meanwhile his parents are dealing with sub-zero temps!

The MRI on his ankle is inconclusive so he had a bone scan done yesterday and is waiting for his results.
He did go campin and made a dent in the fish population on that lake last weekend.
We are waiting on pics...
