    Two pics tonight!

First up - rough-in plumbing. We passed inspection, too!

Next - termite treatment, vapor barrier and secondary footings are ready for inspection tomorrow. Since there's a 60+% chance of rain tomorrow the pour is scheduled for Monday/Tuesday (home/garage).

In both pictures the garage/Florida room wall runs left to right and the trench running from lower left into the garage will be the wall between the bathroom/Florida room and in the garage marks the pantry/laundry room (which will be under the "Motorhead Lounge" loft).

What's not in the picture is the 10' we're adding to the side of the house (for a bigger master bedrooom, two nicely-sized walk-in closets and the aforementioned bathroom.

I just found an early version of the addition plan on my wife's computer - the only one we've scanned as of now, so.....

The house slab was poured today (light rain yesterday nixed any pour). Garage comes tomorrow!

The formed-out area in the forefront is where the lift will be installed.

The garage floor was poured yesterday..

..and the block walls started today!

The masons should be done with the first section Monday morning; then the tie beam will be poured next week.

The masons "hauled block" and finished the first part Friday. The block is now at the level of the top of the windows and doors. Next comes the tie beam, sorta like a footing on top of the wall - rebar dropped down the wall, attached to the existing rebar from the footing, then poured solid. This takes the place of precast lintels over the doors and windows (my understanding is that the garage doors will still have lintels since they're at different heights in relation to the windows and doors.

This photo was taken as it was getting dark Friday - looking from approximately where my workbench will be towards the overhead garage doors.

That's going to be a nice shop. I remember when I could see the floor in mine. I'm going to clean up my shop when I get home from Daytona.

OK, I know it's been a little while, but I'm a CPA and I gotta spend a lotta time in my office right now -- especially so I can pay for this addition!!

The tie beams (both levels) have been poured; the rake beams (tie beams on an angle - in this case on the gable end) are done so block work is pretty much done. I believe Tuesday some lumber should show up.

Here's a shot after the first tie beam was poured:

And here's a shot of yours truly placing the truss anchors in the fresh concrete of the second tie beam. Notice there's no butt-crack. (Oh yeah, I'm the one on the block!)

I know, it's been another long time. Sorry, I gotta work a whole bunch for another few weeks.

The trusses are up, framing is almost complete as is the roof. Here's a teaser for ya - I'll try to find some time to post more pictures. (If anyone is interested, the supervisor - my lovely wife - has a blog chock full 'o pics of construction. Go to www.herronfamily.typepad.com and have fun. Tell her I sentcha from CAC!)

Welcome to the (somewhat incomplete) Motorhead Lounge!

Bill, Sandy's doing a FABULOUS job documenting the project! I had no idea of the total scope of the project - that's a whole lot more than "a garage" - will be really incredible when it's done!

Thanks, John! I will let her know. She'll be very pleased.

Since this is a "garage" forum I figured I'd keep most of my posts to that theme (and of course, "the garage is mine" ).

It's really coming along Bill. Keep the faith. Tax season is almost over then you can get back out there and pitch in.

Well, I'm finally able to come up for air, so it's update time!

The roof is dried in, but not before our kitchen took the brunt of the 2" of rain we had the day after it was "dried in". It's fixed now - the owner of the roofing company (a Corvette pal as well) spent over 2 hours on the roof fixing it in the rain - he hadn't been on a roof in 2 years so I know this job must be important!

The next phase of plumbing has been installed (and unfortunately one of the workers drilled holes through truss uprights - a BIG no-no; we're waiting for the truss company engineer to determine the extent of the damage and what repairs are needed (and the plumbing company knows they will foot the bill).

The electrician and HVAC are set to start next week. We hope to get the framers back to frame the new fireplace and chimney so the roofers can start tearing off the old and installing a whole new roof.

In the meantime, this little gem was installed (This is what I was waiting for - and took half a day off to watch!):
