Updated: Thursday, 19 Nov 2009, 6:57 PM EST
Published : Thursday, 19 Nov 2009, 6:57 PM ESTCOLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - An Army infantryman who lost an eye fighting in Iraq six years ago isn’t letting his wound keep him out of the fight.
Sgt. Peter Sprenger rose to the rank of 2nd lieutenant Thursday after graduating from officer school at Fort Benning in west Georgia.
One of the Army’s top commanders, Gen. David Petraeus, accepted Sprenger’s invitation to attend the ceremony and pinned the 26-year-old soldier’s new rank insignia onto his uniform.
Sprenger of Stockton, Calif., was wounded by a car bomb in Iraq in 2003. Two years later, he became the first disabled soldier known to complete the training for elite Army Rangers.
Sprenger downplays his injury and says he hopes to inspire other wounded troops.

:w

I don't consider myself a "Coffee Connisseur" BUT :chuckle I gave up Folgers, Maxwell House and the other pre-packaged Coffee's years ago...

A friend got me started on Dark Guatemalan, not to be confused with the Antiguan Roast ;) While living in CA I was addicted to "Peets Coffee". Peets is the original of all the OLD Coffee House's. As matter of fact an employee at Peets is the one that started "BigBucks" coffee (StarBucks), Peets within the past 5 year or so has expanded outside the SF Bay area, and gone Nation Wide.

Back to coffee.

How many here grind their own coffee, and what is your Coffee of choice?

Me I still like Dark Guatemalan, but often order Dark Sumatran :dance the Dark Sumatran isn't near as acidy as the Dark Guatemalan and maintains a nice robost flavor.. I want my coffee to tickle the taste buds and have that nice STRONG Coffee flavor :dance

Around Christmas I get a 2lb bag of Peets Dark Guatemalan, but the rest of the year I order my coffee beans from a discount Coffee House. With shipping and the cost of the Coffee Beans (5lb bags) I find it cheaper than most grocier stores, included WallyWorld ;) and their coffee is :thumb

So what is your pleasure? Do you grind your own? Do you buy it locally?

Once in a great while, I stop in to the local watering hole with a friend and grab a brew and
sometimes a burger.
The local place is a fixture out here on the coast. It's called the "Green Lantern".

These people really have a sense of humor and all the locals know about it and the little
"gizmo" thats hooked up in the ladies room.

Now, I"ve never been in the ladies room but Wifie says there's a huge lifesize picture of
some beefcake on the wall au Natural.
All with the exception of a fig leaf covering the plumbing.
Well, theres a handle on the fig leaf and you can pull it up to take a peek if you wish.
Only problem is that there is a loud bell that rings in the bar when you do.

All in good fun.....except the other night I'm in there with one of my car buds having a brew and
these people come in (two couples) and it was very obvious they weren't locals.
They order some food and some brew and then one of the gals gets up and heads into the
ladies growler.
A couple of minutes later, off goes the recess bell and she comes bailing out of the ladies room
with a beet red face.
She storms over to her seat, grabs her purse and heads out to the car with her significant other
in tow.
She never came back in and finally the other couple got up and paid and joined them.
(not before the guy finished his brew)

Got to admit that it's embarrassing but it was all in good fun.
Guess you never know when you're going to offend someone.

Imagine the look in your childs eyes and how hard it must be for a parent to tell their child that santa must have forgotten where they lived!

You have to try this please, it takes 2 seconds. I could not believe this! It is from an orthopaedic surgeon............. This will confuse your mind and you will keep trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but, you can't. It is pre-programmed in your brain!

1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

I told you so! And there's nothing you can do about it! You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done, you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so. :chuckle

I only watched half of the video and it was with my speakers muted. But it was enough for me to say, "Seriously!?!? That guy breaks some pretty cardinal rules if you are paying that much for a car wash!" Anyone besides me see anything wrong with what he does? I'm assuming hearing the audio of clip wouldn't explain my problems with his process.

And here's the original link I found. Including it for the picture of the vette. :D

By this time next year, the most commercially successful duo in country music history may be a memory.

Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn, known since 1991 as Brooks & Dunn, announced Monday that they are parting ways after 10 studio albums, 20 No. 1 singles and 23 million albums sold in the United States. The duo will release a greatest hits album (#1s... and then some) on Sept. 8, though, and Brooks & Dunn will spend some of 2010 on what is being called The Last Rodeo tour, so there will be ample time for bows and ovations.

On their official Web site, www.brooksanddunn.com, on Monday afternoon, a statement from the duo read, "After 20 years of making music and riding this trail together, we have agreed as a duo that it's time to call it a day. This ride has been everything and more than we could ever have dreamed. ... We owe it all to you, the fans."

While one celebrity news television program's Web site quoted an unidentified source as saying Dunn had "had it with the group," the statement from Brooks & Dunn said, "If you hear rumors, don't believe them, it's just time."

Brooks & Dunn scored 41 top 10 country singles, more than any other country duo or group. And it triumphed 14 times in the Country Music Association's duo of the year race.

"These guys together have been an impressive force in music, both creatively and commercially," said Wade Jessen, the senior chart manager for Billboard in Nashville. "I think that will continue to be the case, separately. They're two monster talents, and they made this last for two decades. I'd be inclined to go out on top, too."
