*LAS VEGAS *– Chevrolet unveiled five dramatic Camaro concepts at the annual automotive aftermarket...

LAS VEGAS – Chevrolet unveiled five dramatic Camaro concepts at the annual automotive aftermarket extravaganza known as the SEMA Convention, each representing a different vision of style, personalization and performance.

The Camaro concept vehicles include:

A race-ready, twin-turbocharged V-6 concept built for talk show host and auto enthusiast Jay Leno

The Camaro Synergy concept that reveals a new, limited-production exterior color for spring 2010 and is accented with a number of production accessories and custom touches

The Camaro Chroma, an SS-based concept with a number of future accessories

The Camaro Dusk, which incorporates current and proposed accessories to create a contemporary tuner aesthetic

Camaro Graphics, highlighting six proposed accessory graphics packages, with online voting by the public to gauge interest in potential future production of one or more of the packages.

“During the annual SEMA Convention, the popularity of a new car can be easily judged by the number of ‘tuner’ versions used by various companies to showcase their latest products; and the Camaro is our runaway hit this year, with countless examples displaying everything from mild styling accessories to wild performance modifications,” said Brent Dewar, vice president, Global Chevrolet Brand. “We’re thrilled by all the creative ideas, but especially proud of the cars we developed in-house. They represent modern interpretations of the Camaro that could easily be created by owners using the accessories offered by Chevrolet.”

Many of the Camaro accessories can be ordered through Chevy dealers for installation at the time of the vehicle’s purchase. This allows customers to personalize their cars to their exact wishes, with installation handled by the dealer and the cost rolled into the monthly payments.

In addition to the Camaro contingent, Chevrolet is also showing the Silverado ZR2 concept and an accessorized Corvette Grand Sport at SEMA. Here’s a closer look at each of the concepts:

DETROIT – A strong performance by GM's four core brands -- Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac -- resulted in GM U.S. October sales of 177,603 vehicles, up 4 percent from last October, the company's first year-over-year gain since January 2008. Total sales increased 13 percent when compared with September. The four brands accounted for about 95 percent of GM's retail sales, an increase of 10 percentage points compared to the prior year.

“We’re very pleased with consumer acceptance to our newest cars, crossovers and trucks,” said Susan Docherty, GM vice president, U.S. Sales. “While we have more work to do, we are making progress and will continue our focus on delivering vehicles and a sales and service experience that brings consumers to Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac – and keeps them coming back.”
General Motors Co. said it has delayed the launch of its Chevrolet Cruze small car about three months until the third quarter of 2010 to ensure a flawless launch.

The delay also will give GM time to produce all variations of Cruze models, the automaker said Wednesday. It was not related to any problems associated with earlier Cruze launches in Europe or China, GM spokesman Klaus-Peter Martin said.

Industry analyst Erich Merkle of Autoconomy.com has not heard of any problems associated with the Cruze, but said GM needs a flawless launch in a competitive segment.

October 25, 2009

GM media sites have been redesigned to take advantage of new technology and to improve the user experience including improved global navigation and faster access to news releases, vehicle information, photos, video, and social media resources.

Automatic language and location detection takes most first-time users to GM media information for the country and language where their computer is connected. Users can then click the “Choose: Country: Language” tool to view media sites for other countries and can choose to make any one of them the default landing page each time that user visits http://media.gm.com.

Other features of the new design:
• Click brand names on the top navigation bar to get the latest information about vehicles available in each country
• Photos and videos are quickly found on their own tabs
• GM contacts are easily found on nearly all pages of the media site for each country

GM Media sites are designed to make it easy for news reporters to find information about GM products and the company. If you have questions or suggestions contact the GM media representatives listed on the site for your favorite country.
