On my 89, I've had the door panels off for a year. I have since ran new speaker wire and had the console tore apart for other things. I went to put the door panels back on and noticed both of the power locks don't work. When I hit the switch, nothing happens.

I know the switches are good cause they rolled the windows up and down. So, it must be somewhere in the wiring as it is affecting both sides. I checked the fuses in the fuse box, and they are good.

Is there a relay or solenoid somewhere, or what could cause both power locks not to work?

The other thing is my mirror toggle switch was working, but acting up. So I drilled a hole in it to clean the inside, but that killed the switch as it didn't work. I bought another toggle switch, and the guy said it would have been checked to make sure it worked. Well, the new toggle switch doesn't do anything. So, I'm guessing he sold me a bad switch, or the problem with the locks are related. But I know my old switch was working just a week ago, so I'm betting the new switch is bad.

This past year only saw less than 10 miles on my '93 Ruby, and it really just sat in the garage. I did start it up every so often to keep all the seals in shape. So what do you think? Should I change the oil or just leave it? Thanks.:w

I realize this topic has been addressed, but here goes. I'm going to attempt to replace the 4 dash bulbs in my 88 corvette. My question is: Do I require the bi-pin bulbs or the wedge type bulbs? The 882 bulbs come in both forms, and I'm confused. The xenon bulbs suggested in one forum are bi-pin, but the bulbs from some of the suppliers are wedge type. I haven't removed the bezel yet, and don't want to order the wrong bulbs.

Dropped the Vette at the GM dealer for an oil change before winter storage. At the last minute I...

Dropped the Vette at the GM dealer for an oil change before winter storage. At the last minute I asked them to change the rear differential fluid. My idea. No problems or no noises back there. I have always changed all fluids on a regular basis (oil, tranny, coolant, brake) but never the real diff. And I suddenly thought, why not do it?

My Vette has 43,000 miles, never winter driven and is now approaching 14 years old and I believe the fluid is original. Now, the manual says it is lifetime fluid, but I know the commonly held view is it should get changed. I don't race or track the car. As I put on about 3500 miles per year, I guess I am good now for a while. The dealer said it should be changed every 30,000 miles. Sounds a little frequent to me for normal street driving, but I'm really not sure.I have talked to people who never change it.

How often do you change the rear differential fluid? Does it depend on the way the car is driven or time or both? Or have you never changed it and have tons of trouble free miles?

Front suspension noise

My Corvette has started making a noise that I can best describe as a slapping noise when driven...

My Corvette has started making a noise that I can best describe as a slapping noise when driven over uneven ground, such as a rough parking lot. It is coming from the front of the car, and I don't notice it at higher speeds. I lifted the car up and was able to reproduce the sound (I think) by grabbing the front and rear of a front tire and shaking it. Shaking top and bottom does not produce any noise, although there is a slight amount of play in the driver side lower ball joint (none on passenger side ball joint). The driver side inner tie rod (under the boot) has a little play when shaken, but the noise there is a muffled thud, not the slap.

No other joints have play. The steering rack mounting bolts and all other bolts are tight, with no sign of slipping. Rubber bushings, sway bar mounts, etc. all look good.

My theory right now is that the noise is coming from the rack. The car drives fine, with no unusual feel in the steering wheel. It doesn't feel like there is too much play in the steering. When I had the car in the air, I didn't think to turn the tires left and right and try shaking them while turned.

Any suggestions on the source of the noise?

Thanks,
Ken

Hi guys I am new here and have an issue with my car. Its an 86 350 tpi. It will start fine when cold. Then you drive it so it will warm up, then stop shut it off and let it sit for a few minutes and it wont start. It turns over but wont fire. It has spark, fuel pressure, oil pressure. But the thing i do notice is the injectors wont turn on. You can get it to fire right up with some starting aid.
Let it cool down and it will fire right up. It will run just fine as long as you dont shut it off. Any help would be great. Thanks again
