Well...I've had the Vette now all summer and its nearing time to put it away for the winter. But I am saving money for some repairs/upgrades. One such upgrade would be the brakes. I wondered if Calipers & Rotors for a 2005 model would interchange easily with my 2004? One of my favorite colors is orange and I've found orange calipers online for the 2005 & newer model but not the older ones. Anyone know if I would be able to replace the calipers & rotors without any modifications?

Got a delivery from SCP a couple of weeks ago. I openned the box and set the parts aside until the other items I ordered from a different vendor showed up. Wifey did a little housekeeping in the garage disposing of the shipping container and the paperwork!!
Fast forward to yesterday... the rest of my underhood dressup stuff shows up and it's time to go to work on the new Grand Sport LS3!! Pull the coil covers, wipe down the plenum to prepare for chrome cover, attempt to dry fit cover... Oh Sh*t!!! it's for an LS2!!
Sent an e-mail to SCP after reading their return policy which clearly states that the original shipping packaging and paperwork were required... remember the wifey???
Anyhow, SCP is shipping me the right part with the promise from me that I'll promptly send back the wrong part!!

In this day of half assed vendors who don't really give a rats ass about the people that keep them in business, I am here to tell you that SCP has earned my business from here on out!!
I hope the rest of you will do the same!!

Thanks guys!

Leaving the club at 330am on sat night. My car made an obxnious backfire Outta my tail pipes,I let of the gas and taped it again and another backfire...then stall.. (I have straight pipes btw, I've had them for 6 months now) car will turn over and turn over but not start. I changed the fuel pump b/c I was sure that was the prob b/c my fuel pressure was alittle weak at the rail.I didn't need a pressure tester to know that barley a stream was comming out at the bleeder on the rail. So I changed the pump and now it turns over and will diesel for a few moments after I stop cranking but still no start!! I pulled 2 plugs and both the ones I pulled are getting spark...any ideas??? I was thinking an injector but even if one was bad the car should still halfway run. I'm really hopping I didn't jump timin or somthing...

How are you guys adjusting the pushrod on the brake booster? I can't really get anything to the rod to keep it from turning while trying to get a socket on the screw to back it out some.

It almost looks like you need a special tool that has a couple of 90* bends to stick in there so you have room to get to the screw.

I did get some pliers in there, but I couldn't keep the rod from turning when trying to turn the screw. I tried vice grips, but you don't have alot of room as you still have to have room to get a socket or something on the screw to turn it.

OK... first time poster here...

New 63 coupe w/340... having trouble with 2 things
a) rough idling: sometimes OK... sometimes rough idle, wants to die.. doesnt come back to idle smoothly and doesnt consistently sit down at 7-800rpm... sometimes 1000...othertimes 450. Seller told me carb has been recently rebuilt (whatever that means) Any tips/tricks/ideas to get this thing to idle smooth?

b) misses when driving down the road ~40mph... OK on power up, but I notice the miss/hesitation/buck when coasting... and, occasionally backfires through carb when I gun it from idle (even though its warmed up)

Any info appreciated.

Its like Christmas...you wait for it all year long and then poooooof its over... anyway we had a great time in Carlisle and planning for next years event already. It was nice seeing friends and talking to other Vette lovers. The weather was absolutely perfect...until the humidity came in Sunday, but who cares...no rain for a change. The number of cars that showed up was amazing and can't wait to see the numbers when they come out. A little frosting on the cake here as I was fortunate enough to be chosen for a Celebrity Pick again this year by Corvette Historian and Expert Ralph Kramer. I did some part snooping, and car gazing...man there were some super looking cars this year. The old car made it down and back with no major problems at all except for drinking a lot of gas along the way...oh well, and no one that I know of had any major incidents either...thank the Lord. So till next year...enjoy the ride...stay safe and see you all soon.

(This post is not about a telescoping steering wheel)

(This post is not about a telescoping steering wheel)

Per observation by C4C5Specialist, it seems that my steering shaft has shifted forward ever so slightly that it's now causing my u-joint to bind which significantly increases steering effort to the point I don't really like driving the car. (Keep in mind I have a rack & pinion now, not the OEM setup)

For those that can reference the 1980 service manual, the break out diagram is on page 3B4-19.

I was told by another person that the steering shaft on the 80's was collapsible for reasons of crash safety. And that it's possible that whatever allows the shaft to collapse has failed and now the shaft has shifted forward or has enough play in it that it moves back and forth causing the binding in the u-joint.

What kind of job am I looking at to remedy the issue?
Anyone else ever had this problem or even heard of it? I suppose it's a rare issue because the original steering setup likely wouldn't be impacted by slight movement, but I have the rack & pinion with additional u-joints, so it's causing a problem.
