Default Explain what the throttle valve does

I had a problem with the idle when I got the vette back from Las Vegas 2 weeks ago and it turned out to be the connecting linkage was crushed and was binding on the T.V. cable bracket clip.

That being all sorted out now, I started to look in the FSM for what the cable does. I found location, removal and installation, but no info on what it does.

Could someone explain what it's for and what it does?

The "throttle valve" is inside the automatic transmission and affects transmission line pressure. It connects to the throttle with that cable.

Thank you Hib; I thought it was some sort of kick down linkage to the transmission.

The TV cable also influences forced downshifts (kick-down).

Makes sense. I adjusted mine and now it shifts hard, makes me feel like a big man.
