This makes 3 different engines that might be in the C7:
5.5L Direct Injection based on the current LSx series
V6 Twin Turbo (OHC or OHV ?)
V8 turbo, OHC, and around 3+ liters

    Who you gonna believe?

Anxious to attract the sort of high-performance buyers increasingly drawn to European sports cars from the likes of Porsche, Ferrari and Lamborghini.

    Really?

If memory serves me, Corvette did that 20+ years ago. It was the LT5 in the ZR-1. The bean counters shut it down.

If all Vettes are "LT5-Like" then the bean counters can't shut it down.

Maybe it's time to mid-engine the Vette since the Porch and Ferrari have theirs in the back.
